for ages now i've been drinking only water all the time (and green tea every now and then)

was wondering - would a diet soda very occassionally (like once a week at the most) be ok while trying to cut?

i know there's crap in there but if i was really wanting one....a bad cheat or no biggie?

I'm leaning up and I drink about 2-3 a day.

Hmmm ... I down about 1 1/5 liters of Diet Coke a day ...

If were to drink that amount of Regular Coke,
I would consume +/- 200 grams of sugar a day.

So in that way, It gives me Cafeïne, Fizz and that other addictive stuff they put in there
(but will never admit!).

i used to drink a lot of it myself and cut it out a few months ago.

but now i know it would fill me up at times when it isn't time for my next meal. sounds like maybe it's ok as long as i don't decrease my water intake.

still seems forbidden.....i may get crazy and crack a can open any minute now. lol

Absolutely no problem with drinking diet soda while cutting! I drink at least 3 cans per day of caffiene free diet coke right up till a week out from a contest. It keeps me sane on a diet...that and crystal light...oh, and sex!

 Alright, that was just freaky, now we're posting at the same time in the same place???!!! Stalker!!! :D

No sweets, you're the precious one ;)

the diet coke has gone to my head. i'm giddy as a school girl.

damn - note to self. caffeine makes me happy.

As noted in an earlier thread, GP and i are not twins, and given the Avatar and my overwhelming charm, wouldn't you say that I'm more precious, NG? :D Ya' want some more caffeine? :D LOL

I drink an occasional Diet Pepsi once in awhile. Sometimes more than I like. Trying to quit Caffine all together, but after drinking 6-8 Pepsis a day for over 3 years, its hard to go all day without at least one. Sometimes I manage. :D

I drink about 2 litres of diet coke a day, because it actually tastes like something and only drink water in the gym. It could be a little iffy for you if you are doing ECA stacks, since the diet coke will add more coffeine to that and you could get the jitters lol. Caffeine drains the body of water ALOT, the more coffee or caffeinated drinks you drink the more water you loose. Thats why doctors do not recommend soft drinks if you are dehydrated.

i thought i had heard from w8 or dr. pain that diet soda can still cause in insulin spike. i'll see if i can do a search and find what they had said. i'll post here if i do.

hey gopro - apology accepted. lol

Aspartame & Weight Loss
From Betty Martini
Subject Dr. James Bowen on Aspartame and Weight Loss

"The fact that aspartame fattens people is generally well known. We have all seen the post cards and comics that depict an overweight person with a Diet Coke in one hand while reaching for a bowl of corn chips with the other hand. The reason aspartame so strikingly stimulates the appetite is it provides over half of its content in a form of a phenylalanine isolate.

The amino acid phenylalanine outcompetes all the other at enzyme sites in the body. This suppresses the formation of dopamine from tyrosine and the formation of serotonin from tryptophan. The serotonin is the neurotransmitter that reports carbohydrate metabolism. When your serotonin levels are not allowed to raise as they normally do when you eat carbohydrates you crave more and more food. The dopamine is the neurotransmitter that lets you feel satisfied, so when you use aspartame you have unsatisfiable cravings. The aspartame also poisons your metabolism so you cannot burn calories.

One of the major components of the aspartame molecule is methyl alcohol. Methyl alcohol has long been recognized in medicine for its ability to block metabolism. For this reason when doctors see somebody who has been poisoned by ingesting methyl alcohol or methyl esters they can accurately predict the patient will develop a severe acidosis because the food cannot be metabolized in the normal manner and the breakdown products of the methyl alcohol in addition to the acids developed from the blocked metabolism gravely endanger the patients life. NutraSweet, is a very aggravated form of methyl alcohol poisoning.

Moreover, the neuroexcitotoxins act in the brain to stimulate appetite. This is why manufacturers put it into foods. It does not actually change the taste of food at all, but the food taste better to you because your appetite has been stimulated.

Arsenic is routinely included in chicken food when the chickens are being raised for meat production because it poisons the metabolism and the chickens don't burn off the calories, they turn it into fat, and thus they produce rapid weight gain for the farmer.

When the FDA first looked at this molecule they held aspartame off the market for many years because it is a potent chelating agent which carries many heavy metals including arsenic into the body. The heavy metal poisoning from Nutrasweet also poisons your metabolism, blocks the burning of calories and on the long haul this virtually irreversible poisoning from heavy metals will continue to encourage weight gain."

James Bowen, M.D.

I am pretty much down to either one Dt. Mtn Dew or Dt. Pepsi Twist per day.
I need the break from just water.
I also found something at Sams'. It's called something like, Diet Ice or something like that. No sugar, pretty tasty, cames in several assorted flavors.
I think I got two friend's hooked on it. Good stuff.

hmm, looks like I said 'I' alot....where's the team efort?!?!?

Never had abnormal carb cravings  Oh well, I only drink the stuff when I'm trying to stay awake during a test or class (only so I can have a rational conversation w/ the person behind me LOL). But I still love it! I love it!!! I... I... I... ;) ok Ryder? :thumb: (Aspartame lemonade rocks!!!) just offset the aspartame w/ ephedrine :D
