im 47M and had a my thyroid removed in 2001 due to cancer. i take levothyroxine and my tsh levels stay pretty normal. my biggest problem is energy and wieght gain. i have fought these since the operation. just wondered if any1 is fighting these and what tricks you might have to battle it.ive started working out again and try to eat good. but its tough with 0 energy or motivation, thanks

Yeah SRW, it's tough. Docs use that TSH like its the Bible. Tests are kinda useless. Example- looking at t3 t4 is like looking at traffic. We see lots of cars, but how many are parked, have tickets, or flat tires ? TSH is realy just a thermostat, but it dosen't know if the house is on fire ? Some people do much better with t-3 replacement ? If your Doc is not working with you just get a new Doc ? Good luck !

I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on my latest lab results. Are these OK results or should I try and improve on something? Thanks in advance.

TSH- 3.090 uiu/ml ranges of
.450-4.50

T4- 6.4 ug/dl ranges of 4.5-12.0

T3 uptake- 39 % ranges of 24-39

Free thyroxine- 2.5 ranges of 1.2-4.9

Did you just get a test done to check or have you been diagnosed with thyroid issues in the past?

You're hypothyroid. Have you been diagnosed? Are you on thyroid supplementation? Have you had your TPO/TPA antibodies tested to see if you have hashimotos?

The correct lab ranges for TSH are .3 - 3.0. Your lab is way outdated the range was changed I think seven years ago.

Any TSH over 2.0 is trouble not that TSH is importsnt but it is a readable factor most doctors vaguely understand.

Your free t3 is in the shitter. You want that number in the top 2/3-3/4 of the lab range. As already asked some more info on your history treatment etc will help us help you.
