OK Ive never once done any cardio, though Ive never cut. You? If then when and why?

I have before, but havent in years.

Sports n things.

You just warm up with light w8, right?

Yea, on flat bench maybe a set or 2 of 135, then a set at 225, then onto whatever I am benching :)

I dont stretch either.

Cardio is used to burn calories to keep you in a deficet(sp?) so you stay under you caloric intake to lose weight. Good for shedding pounds. When to do it, people say early in the morning or rite after a workout, big debate here though.

I do cardio now 3 days a week on my cut, its my last resort b/c nothing else is helping me lose the last bit of fat I have. 2 days I do 15mins of HIIT and the other day is what ever I can manage, usually 10 mins of HIIT because thats the day after legs so my quads and hams are shot. I don't mind cardio much really, but Im a weird one lol.

NO stretch?
I couldnt imagine not stretching

Stretching lowers your strength.

As an athelete, I end up doing extensive Cardio-work 3-4 times a week. Right now soccer is in season for my school so I'm doing that for my school.

I actually quit rowing because I wanted to weight lift and body build, they made you do 2-3 hours of Cardio every-day on the erg or just running, or when you got into the water rowing itself.

It's really tough on you, I think I would've found it near impossible to bulk while doing that much cardio.

And they wonder why all of our school rowers are lean toothpicks :)

My trainer has me doing cardio as a warm up but I've got a fair amount of body fat i need to drop so I want to try to do that everytime i work out. Mentally it makes me feel good too.....ITS THE BURN BABY!!! MAKE IT HURT DRILL SARGENT!! MAKE IT HURT!!!:bash: :2punch:

Oh don't make me go off about cardio. I hate it but have to do it when cutting, otherwise my rear does not see cardio. Right now....2 a days for 6 days. 40 in the am, 35 in the pm. Not including the occ. spin class I may take on Tues. if I do that no pm cardio on the stairhell. Also do sprints twice a week which would take the place of 2 of the pm cardio.

I know....lecture me that I am doing too much. It will fall upon death ears.

Not necessarily...it depends on when you stretch, and how much you stretch. If you are not accustomed to stretching pre WO then yes, at first it can/could have an adverse effect on your poundage???s used on working sets.

Stretching post WO, however is nothing but beneficial...

I train 2 on and 1 off. On my off days I either do HIIT, Max-OT cardio or 1 hour of low-intensity cardio...

Ahh, yes. I meant before. Obviously it wont lower your strength if you have finished working out ;)

I try to do cardio 2 days per week for about 30-35 minutes, even while I bulk. I do it for health reasons. I am aware it is not optimal for bulking, but I don't mind. Sometimes I slip to one day under special circumstances, but not usually.

I like stretching pre workout. I do a nice full body stretch for a good 15-20 minutes before lifting or carido. I also stretch out the specific muscles that I worked that day at the end of the workout.

I warm up with one set of like 30-50% normal rep for that rep range, then stretch that muscle (group), then finish workout. And never cardio........ Yet.

I try and do cardio year round. cutting or bulking. obviusly when i am bulking i have good intentions but sometimes I miss. I really feel it if i don't do it though. i breathe much better.

True, mabey I will do cardio next meek, like 10 min run before and 5 after I dont have time for much else

10min before and 5min after what? your workout? why not workout and then do 15min of sprints if you are pressed for time?

Only recently have I included bicycle riding as cardio (hate stationary bikes....sooooo boring!) and occasionally at that.

For my purposes, lifting has accomplished what I am after (lose bodyfat and gain strength)

cardio for me all the time, lon runs, bike rides, sprints, stairs, plyos/jump roping exercises, sports, warmups/cool downs, i do it all and love it.

Cardio is like prozac :)

I was reading Novo's journal on Avant the other day and I read how she took her pulse during her workout and it was high. I decided to try it myself and I took my pulse in between sets during my 1 hour leg workout the other day. My pulse was 178. My pulse was just as high as if I did HIIT.

Anyway the point of this is, for me, cardio isn't always necessary as long as I'm training hard enough. I will use cardio as a tweak but not as a necessity.

Funny you should mention that Jodi. I took mine last back workout (during the deads) and it was 173. I wasn't sure if that was good or if it was an indication of being out of shape.

GPP is the best cardio in town, folks. Sled dragging, sled dragging, sled dragging. It also helps speed recovery and helps increase your ability to lift.

^^I 2nd that SF!

myself, I Sprint, winters are a bit harder because I cant get outdoors but if I can get to a gymnasium or alike I will, otherwise Ill do HIIT to compensate.
I hate lengthy long cardio. period.
I do the above for conditioning and speed. Its addicting to say the least.
Just getting started at Sled Dragging as well :D

i hate cardio!! i HATE cardio!!!! :spaz: :splat: :nut: the only cardio i like is hitting the punching bag once a week for 40mins  running and situps can kiss my ass, i like my gut too damm much to lose it! when i was 140 i was a skinny bastard! my friends said i was as skinny as snoop!!! now i'm 172 and i plan on hittin 200 then cuttin down to 180, cardio's the enemy :splat:

havent done cardio for ages, i say it was 4 yrs ago.
only do that for warm up, but i found indoor rowing is better than cardio warm up,
set me in straight away.
