Yeah. People at the gym KNOW everything so I don't bother.

Also, when I lift I put my headphones on and turn my MP3 player next to the max. I am such a state that a bomb can go off outside I won't lose focus. So I care two shit about people when I lift.

Especially Arnold. He's such a dumbass it's a wonder how he became so successful in life. Reknown for being a shrewd businessman and investor? Luck! And as for becoming governor of the most populous state in the union, I guess everyone in California are idiots too for electing him. Wow, what a moron he is.
I think that is sarcasm, at least I hope it is.

Ive been going to a gym for 4 months now and a few people have given me tips. One of them is that benching thing you do after your skull crusher while keeping elbows in...

Anyway I appreciate all the advice I can get.

I give advice because I work there and if I see someone doing something wrong I think it's my job to help them out. I don't have to worry about annoying anyone because they all know I work there and they have seen me train myself as well as others.

If somebody asks for advice, that is one thing. If you walk up to someone and start giving advice when not asked that is another.

People might think I don't benches well or don't push enough weight, what they don't know is my shoulder is jacked up and I can't do normal benches no matter how much I want to. I've also got jacked up knees so there are certain leg excerises I can not do. I had one trainer giving me all kinds of leg advice even though I told him I can not do hacks. They really hurt my knees and will put me out of commission if I try them. He kept trying to tell me about low weight and perfect form won't bother them. Sorry, just bending down bothers them. That is how I jacked them up in the first place. The funny thing is the guy giving me the advice had legs half my size.

That is my biggest problem with people giving me advice that I did not ask for. They don't know my body or the injuries that I have to live with.

I will only try to give advice if someone looks like they're in serious danger of hurting themselves or someone else. Right after winter break when the new years body builders come in is usually when this becomes a problem.

On the flip side of the coin when I first started to lift my Squat and Deadlifts forms were horrible. Lucky for me, some older powerlifters came over and said kid this is how you squad and deadlift. They gave me honest advice before I got injured and I thank them for that. Ever since then, I can't do the close squats...My stance has to be wide but it has worked well for me. And I thank em for teaching me and making my legs my strong point.

If i were a gym trainer, (Best damn Job in the World in my Opinion!!!!!) I would smile :) and get to know them by their 1st names and wave hello. :wave2: B4 U know it, i know them and their goals and available 2 help out...if they ask?

However....using Weights in the wrong way could hurt 1 and we don't want that? :nope: so i would would step up 2 the plate and kindly Guide with a smile.

No, but man am I tempted to sometime. I always want to say, "Stop wearing that damned belt your entire workout!"

Another one that crossed my mind this morning in the gym, "Why are you doing one armed preacher wrist curls when you are obviously flabby, out of shape, and have no experience with resistance training. Go squat."

sometimes advice is unwanted, but in other cases like mine. id be glad to receive advice from someone who actually knows what they are doing, im all ears if its going to help me out, even if they stopped me in the middle of a set to tell me what i was doing wrong and how to correct it. as long as its knowledgeable information that truly will help then im fine with it and all the better to know sooner.

You're more open minded than most. It's hard to discern whether or not the person advising is actually knowledgeable about what they speak of though.

I give NO advice unless asked, even to the Mrs. I have seen a few things that I wanted to SCREAM about in my gym. One day i was riding the stationary bike and I was watching this old guy go from machine to machine. He stood there stairing at the incline bench (picture this in your mind) and instead of sitting on it correctly so he could do an incline bench he sat on it FACING backwards with the seat half crammed up his butt-crack and was attemting to some sort of military press....and the actual military press machine was RIGHT NEXT to him!

that shit kills me. especially when I see people wearing a belt doing leg extensions.

wearing a belt all the time is the BEST way to create a weak spot in your low back

My brother in law used to wear wrist wraps 24/7 in the 70's, never took them off.
He now has weak wrists and I am guessing the wraps were the cause.

i advise people to not drop the dumbbells.

I rarely give advise. If anyone asks me specifically, I tell the the simplest possible thing that will likely work.

I have found that most people I train with have fairly logical reasons for doing things the way they do and are relatively happy with their progress. They aren't necessarily that strong (nor am I), but tend to have a good work ethic and are quite dedicated. Of course a lot of the gym-goers I train with play college ball, so the situation is a tad bit different.

Only if asked.

i have seen loads of kids usually with bad form and just generally making beginners mistakes but i never want to say anything as most people are likely to take offence from it, me i love critique as i know i will only improve from it.

I hate when people give wrong advice.

Yeah, I dislike this too and see it every once in a while.

I know when I was first starting to lift, actually for probably the first year or so, I had been doing certain lifts incorrectly (or not with the best form) myself so I definately appreciate getting lifting advice. However, this goes back to how I don't like to socialize when I'm at the gym, so if you give me advice, don't expect me to talk with you all the time :)

I agree with premier on this one. We are far superior.

I tried giving out advice for a little while here and there, but then I just said screw it... I wouldnt want it unless I asked for it, so why would anyone else.

But lately I have had alot of guys and girls asking me how to do certain movements correctly and where I got my workout from...
