Can excess amounts of protien be stored as fat? I was always under the impression that any excess would be crapped out so I figured to much protien is better than not enough. Have I been wrong all this time?

Of course it can. Your liver can convert it to glucose. and glucose can get stored as fat.

Yep. But only protein that is above and beyond your requirements. This is why a lot of folks on low carb diets can't get their keto-stix to turn purple.:D

does it matter what type of protien it is?

Nope. Protein is protein.

Yup, not at quite the same rate as overeating carbs though. I don't know what it is, but I doubt that gluconeogenesis happens at a 100% conversion rate.

Okay, I may sound retarded here but, what is a keto-stick and what is it used for?

Also, am I using the right mind set by taking to much protien rather than not enough? I am in Iraq right now so I can't exactly measure out every carb and protien I eat since I don't make or buy the food.

Keto-stix are strips used for urinalysis..they detect ketones in your urine..ketones being the bodies created during lypolosis....

As far as your protin intake is concerned, it depends on how lean you are....just take in ~1.5g per pound of LBM.

I think it is like 58%.
