For you Bill O'Reilly fans, here's another report:

The Evolution of Michael Moore By: Bill O'Reilly for BillOReilly.com
Thursday, Jun 24, 2004 The evolution of Michael Moore's new film is fascinating to watch. After winning an award at the Cannes Film Festival, Mr. Moore returned triumphantly to Hollywood and made this statement to reporters on June 9th:

"We want the word out. Any attempts to libel me will be met by force. The most important thing we have is the truth on our side. If they persist in telling lies, then I'll take them to court."

"Them" were critics who were questioning the accuracy of Moore's charges against the Bush administration. "Truth" is rock solid information which, apparently, Michael Moore was sure he possessed.

But then a funny thing happened on the way to the Metroplex. The Nine Eleven Commission findings clashed with Moore's thesis that the Bushies had done something dastardly immediately after the attack by letting a bunch of Saudis, including members of the Bin Laden family, fly out of the USA while everybody else was grounded. Apparently, that is not true, at least according to the FBI and the Commissioners, none of whom were jurors at the Cannes Film Festival.

So by June 20, Michael Moore had "evolved" a bit as many in Hollywood tend to do. He said this on an ABC News program: "(The movie) is an op-ed piece. It's my opinion about the last four years of the Bush administration. And that's what I call it. I'm not trying to pretend that this is some sort of, you know, fair and balanced work of journalism."

No mention of truth this time but, as responsible columnists know, all op-ed pieces are supposed to be grounded in truth and facts should be cited in backing up one's op-ed opinion.

Uh-oh.

But just when Michael Moore was foundering in a sea of skepticism, New York Times critic A.O. Scott came to the rescue with this assessment Moore's film: "It might more accurately be said to resemble an editorial cartoon ..."

Paging Shrek! In the space of two weeks the Moore movie had gone from truth to opinion to cartoon, albeit an editorial one.

But the hits just keep on coming. Los Angeles Times film critic Kenneth Turan wrote this about Fahrenheit 9/11: "It is propaganda, no doubt about it, but propaganda is most effective when it has elements of truth ... "

So we're back to the truth now garnished with "elements."

I have seen the first half of Michael Moore's movie and here's the deal. It's slick propaganda that indicts President Bush for a variety of things using cut and paste video interspersed with the opinions of far left people like Democratic Congressmen Jim McDermott and John Conyers. For me, the first sixty minutes were tedious but I have to interview guys like that everyday so I'm jaded. Any skilled filmmaker, and Moore is that, could fashion a movie making any American look like a pinhead. That's easy to do. Just get a bunch of video, some people who hate the guy, some factoids that may or may not be true, heat it up with sardonic rhetoric and serve. Presto, Fahrenheit 9/11. So let's stop with the nonsense. If you want to pay 9 bucks to see Moore carve up the President, knock yourself out. But don't be calling me up telling me about truth, or elements thereof. This is rank propaganda and the American public is welcome to it. It will not evolve any further.

I havent seen Fahrenheit, but my gf forced me to watch Columbine. I think she was trying to show me the error of my Gun Owning Ways. That movie was 2+ hrs of extreme left wing Bullshit! I cant believe it was considered a documentary! Another fat asshole perpetuating lies. Of course, the general public these days goes right along with everything they see/read and took it as fact. Needless to say, I wont be seeing Fahrenheit
Glad I didnt see it! It takes one hell of a stride to make that a gun issue. How many did they kill between the two of them.. 15 people? Give me a knife; a few towels, and a high school full of unsuspecting victims and Ill take 15 and walk away. The very idea that they did damage because of guns is among the stupidest things Ive evere heard. Now had they used regular AR-15s with lightning links and silencers- And had the peace of mind to clear room to room.. THAT could have been a tragedy; and a gun issue. But 2 people killing 15.. Thats like saying the menendez brothers killed their parents because of lax laws on shotguns.. Only took them 15+ shots to kill their parents, in a living room, lmao. They accually had to go back to the car and reload.. Those are the people in Counter Strike who always complain about lag after they die :D

Here's a paragraph out of the article that that was posted on the 1st page.

To describe this film as dishonest and demagogic would almost be to promote those terms to the level of respectability. To describe this film as a piece of crap would be to run the risk of a discourse that would never again rise above the excremental. To describe it as an exercise in facile crowd-pleasing would be too obvious. Fahrenheit 9/11 is a sinister exercise in moral frivolity, crudely disguised as an exercise in seriousness. It is also a spectacle of abject political cowardice masking itself as a demonstration of "dissenting" bravery.
This is typical Moore though. This isn't movie, documentary, or anything else. It's simply Moore's outlandish political views on these subject. I hope it bombs and no one goes to see it. Perhaps that would prevent him from making anymore of his bullshit policy pieces.

Another interesting fact.....

He dodged a fox interview today....claiming he was late for another- he was offered a spot later, the interviewer said he would wait....Moore's people declined....

Later it was found his interview was only a block down.....

He is a master of editing, and unfortunately it feeds the uneducated lot (many young people) propaganda....which molds them at a young age---that is why they did not want the R rating

He will release it on dvd and video before the election....i wonder why.....but the FCC ruled that there may be no advertising, b/c if it's nature, 30 days before the election

I hate muckrackers, they spend their time digging through shit they come out with shit on their face. I hate that he gives digging for the truth a bad vibe. Their are no Saints who seek office, not in this time anyhow. We need to stop beating around the Bush and look for a way out of the dark forest we let grow up around us.

I would actually like to hear what our GOP contention (Pepper, austinite, OD, Rich) think about it, but are you guys gonna go watch it?
I'll admit, Moore upsets me, but sometimes I wonder if he is not secretly a Bush-Cheney operative, because he makes anti-Bush types look bad.

I hope during the debates Kerry will be forced to comment on him and the movie. It was not good for Wesley Clark.

Maybe I'll see it. AFTER the election though. :)

any one seen it
im thinkin bout it

I don't think he won an Oscar. He won the award for best documentary I believe at the Cannes Film festival...In FRANCE! He criticized the US President and accused him of treason on foreign soil.

BEsides, cracking on Bush is so vogue these days
Exactly.

WORLD NEWS UPDATE: George W. Bush walked on water today.

Democrats criticize the President for setting a bad example in not being able to swim.

love him or hate him, hasn't michael moore seen his ugly mug on television enough to see it's time to shave? maybe get a new wardrobe, lose a few pounds?

did anybody see John Stewart go off on that guy last week that wrote a book justifying the war? I couldn't believe my eyes, but at one point he pointed at the book and said it was ****

The award for this movie came from the French, enough said. As for Michael Moore himself, he really needs to get in the gym and also start restricting carb and saturated fat intake. Yikes! He looks like a walking poster child for our current obesity problem in this country. Also, get into therapy. Major self hatred issues.

I find it funny so many of you are bashing this movie before even seeing it. There is a lot of factual information in it, whether or not you choose to believe it. I knew much of this information before even seeing the movie. I think a lot of you are just afraid to hear what he has to say because you support Bush and don't want someone to change your mind. Plus, instead of using constructive criticism, most of you are just bashing Moore's appearance.

Then you are going on ignorance, because you are referring to a film you have never seen. Just because you know something about the person who created it doesn't mean you know diddly about the film.

i believe that would be me. But I actually like moore. I don't necissarily agree with everything he says, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate his point of view.
I guess to begin with I don't have a very strong political opinion.
I think as always there is more than one side to every story.
I guess I've just been exposed to such outragious, redneck political views that even if it's true that moore is biased and full of shit, it still holds more merit than watching Fox News trying to ask the "public" what their opinion is ("public" = Townsville, Hick USA)

I think John Stewart should create a film along the same lines. Then I'd watch

To each his own, eh CowPimp.

Michael Moore is a polemicist: like to start controversy and mixes fact and fiction.

He is not very different from Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity.

When it comes to Moore, people either like him or hate him, and I don't think anyone's opinion about his views will change after they see his movie.

My point is different:

I think there needs to be some criticism of the Bush administration, Congress, and in general the American government. The media has done a poor job in recent years, but just questioning what the American government is doing.

Does anyone else feel this way?

I am NOT talking about whether you like or dislike Moore, nor agree or disagree with him.

I'm talking about the need to question, just question the actions of our government.

everyone that supports fish is a blind fucking sheep, because of people like you america has its dark days ahead of it. if you think 911 was something, most analysts predict that its cake compared to what they will do to us. its not if but when, its only a matter of time

you fucking sheep, get this piece of shit out of office, he has already doomed this country enough !!!!!!

I saw the movie last night. It was godawful. The slate article Larva posted sums up the movie pretty well. Pure, unadulterated propaganda.

The problem is, the type of person apt to believe this utter bullshit is also quite unlikely to read any critical articles or to take any other opinions seriously. Just look at BigCrackheadGA.

The people in the movie theatre i was at actually clapped at the end of the movie. I wanted to vomit. Of course, their reaction wasnt entirely unbelievable, considering i live in the giant liberal clusterfuck state of massachusetts.

I hope Bush gets voted out of office too, but you are dreaming if you think anyone else is going to prevent those dirtbags from attacking us.

Anyone who is in the middle go watch this movie? I am interested in hearing about it from a non-slanted viewpoint.

O/T some people think that after iraq, and if bush is re-elected, he might go after other countries which means maybe a draft. I hope thats not true:yawn: :barf:

Thank god somebody finally said it. I have seen the movie and even though I historically vote Republican this movie brought up many points that I had no clue about and I consider myself pretty up on current events. Bush Has disappointed me because of his stance on scientific research but until now I never thought of him as unamerican. Once I saw how deep his ties were with the saudis it definitely made me ask the question. And you have to admit the underling story about keeping people poor to have a surplus to draw on for the military has been a problem for centuries.

I would say that historically I am republican as well, but I won't be voting that way in Novemeber as of right now.

NO MATTER WHAT you should NOT vote for this fucking despot. even if he produces osama right before election, you dont play a season and loose 14 games and win the last 2 and claim to have a succesful season.

THE FACT IS, our kids and grandkids will be paying with their lives for his mistakes, he has driven the US almost to the point of no return in the eyes of tens of millions of muslims worldwide.

I think we were already past that point way before Bush. Whether he has helped us or hurt us remains to be seen, but these muslim extremist have always and will always hate us and try to kill us. As far as the normal muslims just trying to live through all this, I'm sure we've made many friends and enemies with them. Either way this problem isn't going to get resolved with the november elections, it may take another century or two to fully resolve, the hatred many of their culture feels towards us, we're in it for the long haul now, no matter how you look at it.
