Will the frutose in fruit stop fat burning because of an insalin spike? I know this is a stupid questions but I am confused! Thanks for the help

Fructose is insulin indepenant. It gets metabolism and stored in the liver so never reaches the bloodstream to create the insulin response. Hence, why people say fructose replenishes liver glycogen preferentially.

If your live glycogen is already full then fructose will be convert to fat and stored.

Fruit is ok cause it's got fibre, vitamins, phytochemicals etc... Also, the amount of fructose actually found in fruit is about 1/3 of the total carb count, so ignore the fools who say fruit will make you fat - they clearly don't realise how much fruit you'd have to eat.

Some fruit isn't as appropriate, but look out for the most fibrous stuff and you'll be good.

How do ya know the differance in sugar by the labels?

Well, unfortunately you don't.

It may tell you in the ingredients what type of sugar they've added, eg dextrose, sucrose, fructose are usually mentioned if they've been added but you'll never be told the breakdown of the sugars on the labels. Well, rarely at least.

It usually says soemthing like: Carbohydrate: Xxg of which sugars: Xxg.

If fruit is insulin independant,
then why do fruits have defferent GI ratings?
I am confused:confused:

in nature when sugars are found fructose is usually found along with glucose. as the chemical structure is the same but fructose is a isomer.

different fruits have different ratios of each. take the banana for instance. when green it is high in fructose as it rippens the ratios change in the percentage of glucose is higher than fructose.

Notice i said fructose is insulin independant.

And i also said fruit is only about 1/3 fructose is most cases.
