Hi all, I really struggle in keeping my lower abs toned (the area under my belly button.) What can I do to tone this area? I have no exercise equipment, just dumbells. I've tried sit-ups, but they just work the area ABOVE the belly button, if you know what I'm talking about.
Plz Help, thanks Rad

diet..diet...diet....

you can't spot reduce with exercise

The guy still wants to work his lower abs. Help him out. And while you're helping toss out some oblique exercises, too. :]

Bump on what LAM said. And that is likely to be the LAST place for the fat to go away.

you gotta learn how to contract your lower abs, first of all.
Secondly, you need a low bf.

the function of your "lower" abs is to bring your pelvic girdle towards your body. Ex's such as hanging leg raises do just that.

When doing these, make sure you contract your lower abs to raise your legs, don't simply lift from your hip flexors.
At the top of the movement, blow out all the air in your lungs, and squeeze your abs as hard as you can.
Slowly lower your lower body, using your abs as resistance.

Lastly, get a low bf, and you'll be able to see the muscle you're building.

Thanks Flex, Good Advice!

Bicycle maneuvers, captain's chairs. Obliques, covered; abdominals, covered.
