does anyone eat these on a bulk?

they are made from corn, i was just curious of their quality, as far as functioning as a slow burner.

hmm yeah i usually dont either... but they are carb dense and im deathly sick of oats.

i think i might stick with gluten free pasta

If it is just corn I don´t think there is any problem with that. Remember that the GI is altered by food combination.

corn is pretty much useless...it contains a little vitamin A

I read a Ronnie Coleman interview in Muscular Development, the Olympia Coverage, and he said he grits all the time. Supposedly he can't stand oatmeal or something. Just my $.02

Try barley, brown rice, and sweet potatoes too. I really like pearled barley. I recently tried it because of a suggestion from LAM, and it is excellent.

cool ill definitly try barley, what do you make with it?

and yeah, that is why i bought some in the first place, just wanted to see what the big deal was, ronnie sure loves em.

same here, i use it the same as rice, dice up some chicken throw on top with some vegetables, mix with beans and what not.

Grits are made from hominy and IMO they are quite nasty! :barf:

I got some today as a matter of fact! I tried to eat them after just cooking in water. Plain, without a lot of stuff added for flavor, they are damn nasty!

Jodi,

How were they prepared. When done correctly with scrambled eggs or over easy and loads of butter they are quite good :-)

That's the key, loads of butter.

I can make my worst nightmare taste decent with loads of butter - SQUASH! :shake:

lol yeah I meant as a non healthy food.

I just eat it plain. I have heard that some form of barley stew can be pretty good. Trying hitting up Google for some recipes.

Guess you have to be from the south to really like grits. I grew up in the New Orleans area and love grits. You have to eat them with a little butter, black pepper and salt. Never eat them with sugar and milk, that is Northern perversion.

Man grits are great. I don't know what's up with you people. Grits+cheese+shrimp= MMMMM

Peace.

I've had 'em once in a while. I used to work at a bagel store in HS ... and the guys in the back loaded them with butter, salt and hot sauce!

whooooo-eee!

I love grits too! But I'm in North Carolina and it is a southern thing!! I like them with cheese. I use to NEVER touch livermush (breakfast meat) but now I like that too.

Yup. I'd put the eggs on top of the grits, break the yolks, call it yellow snow and chow down. :lick:

Cool name and cool sig Minotaur.

hmm i'd be careful going around telling people you shovel down yellow snow

So is grits a good bulk carb or not? Ive been checking periodicaly but no one's said yes or no.

Hominy is in the corn family which is is a grain. It's still an unrefined source of carbs so I would yes but it is processed, for bulking grits are fine.

Gross and disgusting and I would never ever eat them ever ever again but fine if you like them. :p

Thanks Jodi. And Im right there with you on the squash.....just thinking about it makes me gag. But yes, I do eat it. Im a good boy.

Ppl don't like oatmeal but they like grits? Guess it depends on what you grew up on. Of course there is the even nastier scrapple. You just will never know :wtf: is in there.

Grits plus Molly McButter plus a bit of nutritional yeast plus some garlic. Sprinkled lightly with Parmesan cheese. And cooked thick of course. I like grits uncommon well, when I can get them. With scrambled egg substitute on top.

Mind you, I like squash as well. And I couldn't possibly be less Southern if I tried.
