I had plans to go see the new Batman movie with an ex-co worker of mine on Friday. She's 33 and in the midst of a divorce that will be finalized in October. Anyway, she calls me on Friday letting me know her husband had been digging thru her phone and writing down phone numbers of guys she had been talking to and getting all crazy about it. She called me and left me a total of four voice mails since sounding really scared and shakey, warning me he was going to call me.
I get the call a few hours ago while I was napping, and the voicemail I got was as follows (verbatim):
"You didnâ??????t leave no fucking message there, so I donâ??????t know who Iâ??????m talking to, but Iâ??????m thinking itâ??????s Kent, and you know (girl's name) and you obviously know who the FUCK I am. Iâ??????m her fianc??©. And if you fucking call her anymore, talk to her, and tell her about some fucking movie or whatever, Iâ??????m going to rip your fucking head off. So I hope this is the right guy, and, but this is no lie, LEAVE HER THE FUCK ALONE. Youâ??????ve got a big problem on your hands, buddy."
The guy sounds like white trash from the South to be honest, but he definitely sounded mad and crazy. I'm not sure what to do from here. I've already decided not to talk to this girl anymore since she pretty much revealed to me on Friday how crazy she is for being with this guy by the way she's handling it, let alone the fact that I do not want to deal with any of this shit at all. My main concern is that this guy may easily stumble across directions to my house.
Do you think I should report this to the police?
I am also concerned that he may show up to my work.
Thanks Will. I've kept the voicemail and also saved it as a voice memo (since voicemail disappears after 30 days with my provider). I'm still pretty shocked by the message, but I've prepared myself for the worst at this point. He's also a moron as he's left a hard copy of a threat to you, which you can hand over to the police which means there is no his word vs yours. Thats even dumber then sending threats by email as he cant deny it's him. Hopefully you were smart enough to keep the recording. There's plenty you can do with it if you so choose, or just ignore it as a guy being an idiot, but don't lose the recording as you may need it in the future if he decides to continue with the threats, etc.
I wouldn't be totally opposed to playing it or sending it to one of you guys (my voicemail gives me an option to send it to another Sprint PCS user). I don't know, we'll see. I want to wait until this whole thing blows over before doing anything. It would be pretty cool if you can play that voice messege here, anyway Best thing you can do is back off. A jelaous unstable guy is like a time bomb waiting to explode.
Wait a minute ... hold the phone. He described himself as her fiance, and she described him as her soon to be ex-husband? WTF?!?!? That is not making any sense. Someone's screwing with you here some how ...
Exactly. It kind of hints to what kind of girl this is as well in my opinion.Unstable, insecure men are funny.

Thanks guys, and LW, that photoshop is hilarious (I had to do a triple-take).

99% of the time, threats are just threats. I have personally seen the results of the 1% that were not. Good luck.
I've seen that 1% as well. In fact, the description that Kent gave made me think about the guy who blew his girlfriend's brains out.....first time I ever saw the interior of a human skull. Not a pretty sight.
You are this close (he holds his hands an inch apart from each other) to turning this into a gun thread!![]()

I'm going to call her tomorrow at her work number to let her know about the voicemail her husband left and to find out what he knows about me as well as make sure she has gotten rid of my address. Hopefully nothing will happen and guy won't show up at my work or home. Also need to let her know we shouldn't talk for a while (if ever again). Kind of a shitty situation, but I don't need the drama.
I actually had called her a few hours ago already to see what he knew about me. She already got rid of my address and number, he doesn't know my last name or what I look like or where I live. That's good enough for me, though to be honest, I am still a little annoyed that this guy would be arrogant and stupid enough to leave such a voicemail to someone he knew absolutely nothing about. A part of me still wants to call him to make sure he understood where I stood on the situation, but his wife begged me to just leave it be (as to not risk getting him heated back up again). I figure this will be the last I hear from either of them. That sounds a little risky bro.You may not want to contact her because if it gets around to him that you did under any circumstance then he may try to follow up on that threat. I would deffinately call him and tell him that you have no interest and thought the two of them were finished but obviously aren't any you'll no longer contact her.
Never ignore another man's threats. If you get any others, forward them to the police, and consider a restraining order and or charges (no, it's not legal to threaten another persons life), and watch your back.

Thank you, Will. I was a little surprised that the police were not willing to do anything for me until the guy left two more threatening messages or physically showed up to my work or home. This was unacceptable to me. I gave hint in a previous post (in this thread) that I had prepared for the worst. What I meant by that was that I have a firearm in my home at the moment solely due to this threat. This reminded me of a thread you had made which I had participated in. Even though I consider myself able to hold my own in most cases, it can be very difficult to prepare yourself for those unstable people out there. You are this close (he holds his hands an inch apart from each other) to turning this into a gun thread!![]()

Thanks for the tip. I will have to look into this, though I do not plan to keep this thing around for much longer than a few more days. I have been wanting to pick up one of my own for a while now. The only thing that had stopped me before was knowing that guns in general are pretty marked up when buying from sporting good stores (such as Scheel's). Do you know of a source where I can get a new one for a good price (looking for an H&K USP)?Just be sure that gun in your house is legal. Each state can be quite different and "buddy lent me a gun" for example may not be legal in your state, etc.
Good luck.
She did not really explain, but she did acknowledge that she knew her husband had threatened someone else in the past stating he was her fiance. Sounds like a real winner.Did she explain why he said she was his finance?
Why the hell is she still living with him if they are getting a divorce?

Thanks, I will have a look. I've actually heard about GunsAmerica.Start here:
Handgunlaw.us
Again, depends on the state, but if your state does not prevent online, you have a million choices, like Guns America:
GunsAmerica - Connecting Gun Buyers to Gun Sellers Since 1997 - Guns For Sale & Gun Auctions B"H
I think the guy is just a complete idiot. I doubt his wife is trying to "get rid of him." I kind of feel sorry for her, not having been in a very happy relationship for a while and what seems to be having this guy constantly flip out on her. Oh well, not really my problem now.I'm still stuck on the fiance/divorce thing. Either this guy is unstable and crazy or the chick is trying to get you to "take care of things" for her. Reminds me of Garth dating that married woman in Wayne's World 2
Thanks guys.

Not sure you're looking at the whole picture here. Sure, she got rid of all your personal info AFTER he called you. So, why should that make you think he didn't already get your info BEFORE she trashed it? Besides, he already called you once. I know my phone stores dialed calls so, he has your number. Wouldn't be that difficult to track you down with that little tid-bit.
Thanks guys.

I did ask her for his name and what he does, but she wouldn't tell me. I didn't want to push the matter, so I let it be. I don't know if it is in my personality type do show up at the guy's work or (especially) home. I think that would add to the danger to be honest, especially when he was still angry enough to leave such a voicemail. Additionally, I don't know the guy at all. Seems too unpredictable to want to risk walking blindly into the guy's own turf.In the process you should have asked her for HIS name, number and employer. (probably Taco Bell)
As soon as I got that voicemail, I would have been at his work or home that day. I wouldn't start any static, just let him know by the gesture of showing up, that you aren't scared, and that you dont want to be involved with their stupid drama.
This is like terrorism... Its intimidation... Now you are home with a gun wondering whats up...
I couldn't deal with that. I would take it to him, and if he was feeling crazy, I'd get to face that crazy on "MY" terms.
