Hey guys,

Started off as a skinny guy that trained hard for about a year and put on quite a bid of decent weight (although far from ripped or cut).

Since then ive trained about 3 months on and then given up for about 6months after not making any gains.

Im now hitting the gym determined not to miss a training session and do things right.

Just wondered if i could get some opinions on best opinions of how to train.

I always thought best way to train was seperate bodyparts ie
mon - chest
tues - arms
weds - back
thurs - shoulders
fri - legs
Not necessarily in that order but u get the idea.

Recently been looking at articles where a lot of people seem to say the best way to train is an all over routine every other day. So train every body part with one exercise per bodypart for about 5 sets then have the next day as a rest day then repeat cycle but with different exercises for each body part.

I know everyone has different opinions on this just wondered what you guys thought on this.

Would really appreciate your views and help in the quest to get big.

Cheers guys !!!!

try and do compound movements and I dont like that you workout every single day of the week.

thanks for the reply.

Im looking to train every body part in one session and then rest the day after then repeat.

What are your views with that ?

You are training 5 days in a row, no wonder you aren't making gains. That is considered a big no no. Generally, I don't think people should train with weights more than two days in a row. You don't give your body to chance to recover.

Full body every other day would more than likely lead to overtraining.

I think the best things you could do right now is it read the stickies in the training forum as well as the diet&nutrition. You need a program that gives your body enough rest, as well as a proper diet to fuel your muscle gains and allow you to recover.

I personally don't see a problem with training almost everyday. But you have to give the muslce group you worked a week off. So, back and bi's together, chest and tri's together, Lats and shoulders together, Legs. This gives you 4 days working out and 3 off in a week. How you mix it up is up to you. I have had very good results training this way.

I think 4 days a week is fine as well. That is what I do. 2 on, 1 off, 1 on, 1 off, 1 on, 1 off repeat. I don't consider that "almost every day" though.

No more than 4 days a week is more than plenty, anymore is simply ridiculous. The majority of people here will tell you your workout is bad. If you do an upper/lower split working out 3-4 days a week I think you would see many improvements in your body.
