Looking for help with high energy breakfasts.

I am starting training this weekend, after having to lay off for over a month for one crisis or another, , (it sucks!! I feel like I am only half alive! My posture is off, everything is jusst YUCK! Besides I feel like a whiny bitch! ). I have cereal, donuts and coffee are a check in a pinch( I know bad post workout!

 )
Bagels, nuts, fruit protein shake, banana, dried fruit, ???. somthing else?
On my way to 1fast400. hehe.

What are your goals?

1 Egg...some whites....oatmeal...and a piece of fruit.

Qty will vary depending on your weight, BF%, and goals.

Nevertheless....it's somewhere to start.

Well, I hope no one jumps me for saying this, but I needed some powerful energy today so I ate.

4 pancakes with syrup.
1 serving cottage cheese
2 boiled eggs
1 glass OJ
1 glass skim milk

Im pumped for the gym!

Swap your regular pancakes for protein pancakes. Use Sugar Free Syrup. Ditch the yolk on one of your eggs, get low carb reduced fat milk, ditch the OJ- too much sugar.

Too Cute, your definately learning :)

He's bulking though  My Boyfriend eats like this in the morning too and still doesn't gain much

Try 2Tbl plain sugar free yogurt in the protein pancakes, and grind the oats in a coffee grinder. mmmMMMMMMMMmmmmmm:lick:

Yo camaro- you drink milk and orange juice? Doesn't the citric acid and lactose combination give you a bad case of stomach discomfort? It would happen to me, that's for sure.

Peace.

Personally I NEVER drink JUICE...never...and would only have pancakes if eating out for a treat...end of storty.

If YOU can get away with it...it's not the healthiest...and I think you're low on the protein...go for it...whatever works I guess....just not for me....if I ate like that I surely would lose LBM and gain FAT:(

high energy breakfast = oatmeal and eggs, eating oatmeal every mornin seriously gets me amped up for the rest of the day, i call it my power oatmeal

What exactly is wrong with juice? I love OJ and drink it fairly regularly. BTW this is all natural OJ, pulp left in with no added preservatives etc

Juice is just too concentrated in terms of high GI carbs. You should try and eat solid fruits....much more bulk, more filling, and much better on your blood sugar...and waistline:)

I'm not saying natural juice is "bad" for you...I just think..as do most....that eating solid fruits is the optimal way to go.

With juice it's very easy to drink a lot which ads up very very quickly in terms of calories. Drinking 500ml is like eating 3 oranges...get me point...who would eat 3 oranges at once?? :)

For those bulking, I personally don't see anything wrong with 100% natural fruit juice. I don't mean the crap made from concentrate but the real deal.

Premo, actually it doesnt. Its strange, because I have never had any problems with milk or dairy products, yet I have the acid reflux problem, and heartburn can KILL me at night if I dont take proper medication.

Im bulking, eating tons of food, and in 2 and a half weeks have only put on 1.5 lbs.

Argh... gotta eat more.

I preferr waffles, Krustez add h20,protien powder(choc), wheat germ, egg whites, olive oil, peanutbutter, mix in blender and cook up. Freeze them pop in toaster eat with or without surup.

oatmeal it is

Jodi,
Yes, I'm bulking, FYI, so especially in the morning I need everything I can stuff in my mouth. I can afford to be indiscriminate-I'm a stickboy.
I lose my appetite if I stay with the same foods day after day, so I appreciate everyones answers.
I am probably gonna be jumped for this too, but what's wrong with eggo waffles?

Recent studies have shown that the crap made from frozen concentrate (which you dilute with three parts water) is actually the next best thing to the freshly squeezed thing, and much better than the "Del Monte" et al. boxed variety. ;)

Of course, nothing beats the real unskeezed orange...

Other than oatsa and brown rice, what are some other high energy breakfast (pre-workout) ?

FRUITS!!! ... apples, bananas, oranges, pears, blueberries, peaches, strawberries, raspberries, peaches, plums, grapes, melons, grapefruit, cantelope, mango, papaya....need I go on....of course depending on your goals and metabolism some of these are better than others.

If you can handle it (lactose)....milk with some whey and fruit all blended and add some PB or flax oil ro slow digestion and you're good to go...I would wait about 1hr after this though before training.

i take an apple before every workout

you train in the morning after you'r first meal?

i train at about 11:30 i have my first meal at 7:30-8:00 then at about 11:00 i'll eat an apple and a small chicken breast, then workout about 30-45 minutes later

what you eat in your first meal?

my daily breakfast is:

1/2 cup whole oats, 1 large bananna (mixed into oats to sweeten), 40 grams WPI

That's an excellent pre-workout meal...and I like the banana in the cooked oatmeal...I do that sometimes as well:)

I'll start rotating FF milk with my oats or bananna :)

dang!
I'm already there! I throw fruit in my protein shakes every morning with milk!
Now if I can just get up early enough to stop and eat oatmeal insted of grabbing a donut:mad: !

Thanks for reaffirming that fitfreak! isn"t Spring great! It's finally here, and the local el cheapo fruit-veggie market is back in business! gotta love that! hehe!:D

thanks-P
