Hey all im gonna shoot some HIIT into my diet and excerise regiment for a few weeks see if i can speed up weight loss results...

Tonight i tried it for the first time, i jumped on an elliptical turned up the resistance a bit and did a 5 minute brisk pace warm up then on 5:01 i went into 30/30 intervals of all out to moderate pace for 10 minutes, after the 10 minutes were up i did another 5 minutes at a brisk pace again...

Am i doing this the right way? i mean i felt pretty wiped afterwards and i was sweating up pretty good just want to make tweaks now before i possible scrap the idea because i dont see results as per my lack of understanding how HIIT works

Find a little strip outside and run sprint's. 5-10 60 yard blast's and it will be more fun. You can't go all out on a elliptical. But if that's all you got then it's better than nothing. But I prefer the Elliptical for LISS not HIT.

You can go out on an elliptical.

i only did elliptical because it was my first time trying it out, plus i figured on a tread mill itd be slow to speed up and slow down

is 10 minutes of 30/30 good enough or should i do 15 minute 30/30 split

I have actually started doing this myself....I use the elliptical 4 times a week after lifting. Two of the sessions I will go for 30 minutes at a moderate pace, heart rate around 140 or so and then the other 2 sessions I will go at a higher pace for 15 minutes straight with heart rate around 170-175....I enjoy it.

I started waking up in the morning and doing cardio.
Big fan of the Bike machines, they have different difficulty levels and I do the "strength" setting and change the difficulty as I go. Man it kicks my ass.

Yes, you can use an elliptical for HIIT. You need to be doing more of a three minute all out/ two minute lower intensity.

You also want to incorporate other equipment as well as spirits for variety.
