I know the basics and i currently have a routine and lift weights.

But, i just want to know how you get visible abs. If that's all i wanted, how could i achieve this the quickest and best way?

I assume diet and exercise? Eating 500 calories less than maintenance and ab workouts 3 days a week? Maybe HIIT cardio 2-3 days a week? Is their a better way?

diet diet diet, you need to watch the stuff you eat. to get visible ab's you either have to have some huge ab's or be at about 10% body fat or less. build them like you would with anything else, try weighted crunches/sit-ups for 5-7 reps 3 day's a week, and sleep good

im pretty sure cardio is the key along with the above post

Eat less.

Do it for a while.

That's it.

crunches....

Lol. I don't get why people think there is some secret behind building abs.

Because i've never had them, although my stomach is pretty flat...So, that makes it hard. Sometimes i think genetics play a huge role...I'm eating at a deficit, so lets just see how "easy" it really is...

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
Didn't say it was easy. Just simple.

first you have to do around 1000 crunches a day

6 miles of running every day

and around an hour on the elliptical

your diet should be

breakfast......3 egg whites
lunch...........can of tuna
dinner..........1 hamburger patty

couple these meals with LOTS of negative calorie foods

along with this regimen, you should begin a rigorous topical process by rubbing Vicks on your ab region morning and night

also swallow a tablespoon of dry cinnamon each night before bed

and if you must cut extra pounds drink only distilled water and spend about an hour in the sauna each day...

in fact, if you can get the elliptical in the sauna this would be best

follow these directions and you will have abs so tight you will DIE

Ben dur you forgot fish oil tablets...:D

thats right

i recommend 50g of fish oil a day

miraculous

will make vulnerable joints strong and limber

increase your energy levels

lower cholesterol

and chisel your abs

IN DAYS, NOT WEEKS

you already have abs. you are born with them. that is how you get them.

as far as seeing them....as stated - diet, lifting, some cardio, and mainly being consistent with those three things.

Gotcha, i'll continue and see how it goes.

To me, it just seems that genetics play a significant role regarding how much work one needs to put into obtaining visual abs. It's no secret that there are people that have rippling abs and don't workout or watch what they eat. This is AKA, genetics. On the flip side, there are those that workout, do some cardio, and try to eat right, but still have bellies. Again, genetics.

Can anyone get abs regardless of genetics, yes but it may be more difficult...

This is essentially my point and i was just looking for the best way. Obviously, diet and exercise is number 1.

Of course genetics play a big role and some will have a harder time getting lean than others. We are all individuals. As far as you personally - you are going to have to try out different things (be patient and give them time to work before changing it up or stating that something doesn't work) and see what works best.

Yes genetics play a role in everything. The Catch 22, you need to eat at a surplus to gain muscle, if you wanted to bulk up the ab wall so to speak. Bulk and cut, bulk and cut, bulk and cut...

Youre not gonna go from zero to ten overnight.

I never stated that anything didn't work. I was just looking for advice to better achieve my goal.

All diet, dude. Take in less calories than you eat. Sure, ab work helps a BIT, and is good for strengthening the core if you're an athlete or a serious compound lifter... but if you aren;t, and you're just in it for the aesthetics, then there isn't much point.

lol....yea. I was like WTF?

Impossible...what are you gonna be eating to do that. Some of those negative calorie apples I guess.

I know this was a brain fart but its funny to read.

Try this.

I also have a 6 minute routine if you need it.

do not mix carbs with protein, keep insulin low, cals in needs to be less than cals out, and laugh and smile more.

I'm with you 100% OP. I've been trying to cut and get abs for a little while now. My genetics suck and i just tend to look fat. I'm still burning more calories than i'm taking in, but this remaining body fat on my stomach just does not go away. I don't even know what ab workouts to do anymore, although they don't help from what i hear...It's all about diet, but i'm doing that...

Here is a pic, so you know what i mean. I have a short torso and just crappy build...

You could try stubborn fat loss protocol. Look for Lyle McDonald's stuff for more on this.

What does your diet look like? I have a similar problem, but I know my issue (combination of spiking of insulin by eating sugars, non-healthy carbs, and bad timing on eating those carbs).

that's not even bad... my midsection looks similar and i've just accepted the fact that i can diet down and look fairly lean but will probably never be lean enough to have my abs show well and i'm ok with that... i'm 26 and starting to get old anyways... plus i'm not really willing to give up all of life's pleasures just to be completely ripped... my chest, shoulders and arms make up for my midsection and having a shirt on most of the time hides that area of my body anyways! having abs that show are lower on the priority list for me... sure they'd be nice to have but i'd rather focus on gaining strength and size in other areas and just overall enjoy the feeling of throwing around heavy weights in the gym...
