In other words, how long did it take for you to bulk and gain size to where you wanted OR lose weight and get lean through all that hard work of dieting and training.

Discuss

Most of the people here are not the size they want to be yet. Including myself.

Well i'm somewhat close to celebrating my 2 year lifting anniversary and i'm not really close to reaching my goal, so 2+ years for me.

ya i know that most people havent reached their goals yet but i just wanted to get a good idea of how long it will usually take for me to get where i want to be...and it seems like its going to take a lot longer than i thought considering this is only my third week.

:/

I still got a long way to go so I voted 2+ years.

I'll let you know when i get there. The best I was at was 172 9% b/f that took me
me about 18months.

I have seen a few people far more intelligent than I estimate that if everything were done close to perfect, 3-5 years would be a good estimate of how long it would take to get near your genetic potential in terms of muscle growth (starting roughly as a beginner).

im still on my way, but once i figured out how to gain weight i put on 40 lbs in 10 months. the massive muscle growth contributed to seperating my clavicle at the sternum but i know how to avoid that mistake now
stretch hardgainers.
and eat!

Curse

i dont think anyone will ever be happy with their size in every aspect as there will allways in their eyes improvement needed, and it is that which drives us on and keeps us training

Still going, almost 18 years of training.

I'm going on 2 years now. 70lbs gained, 55lbs of muscle. I want another 20lbs in the right areas to and cut bodyfat from 13% to 8%. I'm sure I will never be quite happy.

Took 3 solid years of training 22" arms But my neck is best 26". Not finished yet...SIZE

Wow! 2-5 years for a lot of you! Ok, i don't feel so bad! :nope: I was trying HARD to get in shape in 3 months time? Boy was i wrong! LOL. But...........i can see now that "reasonable goals" are necessary!!!!!!!!

I don't think I'll ever be exactly where I want to be (thats the fun). But its gonna take a long time to find out. So I put 2+ years. Though it will probably take 20+...

you have a 26" neck ? I know guys who are 300+ and under 6' who don't come close to that.

I'm never happy with my size..... gotta be bigger.

I am closing in a goal I set for myself 2.5 years ago... a 500lb deadlift. I'm at 465lbs.

Well Im 6'2'' at 180lbs so it only took me 2 months to reach my designated size.

I'll let you know when I get there! :thumb:

5'8 176lbs and no where near my designated size

I would have doubts Anthony Clark was that big in the neck, and he was plenty overweight.

i would need a lot of steroids and years to reach my designated zone...

are you kiddin go pro? I'd kill for a body like that!

Thank you very much, but by my nature, I am NEVER satisfied.

26 inch neck? Riiiight

Not there yet. I don't think anyone here has a "designated" size.
As opposed to setting a time limit for reaching a certain point, look at yourself in the mirror. If you're happy, try and maintain. If not, keep your diet clean and get your @$$ in the gym. One of the most important aspects of this sport is PATIENCE. Without it, you will easliy become discouraged or find yourself doing something really stupid to reach your goal.

1 year...but now i want to bulk up my arms and chest and abs

Oh no....guess i gotta start learning some sometime!!! LOL. i can see where PATIENCE is just part of the program!!! :wait: Yes, i will try to tell myself...."STAY FOCUSED on your GOALS and have some dang PATIENCE and you'll get there!!!" Big L

Now,come on I would not post my neck size if it wasn't true. I walk around re-laxed with a 25", flexed, different story pushin close to 28". I'm sending pics, but i just started back in the mines of the Great state of N.Y.( would you believe you have to buy digital CAMERA batteries, regular didn't work? My daughter is going to help me.) we're pulling 7 12 hour days for a month I'll post as soon as i can. keep lifting heavy, Bullboy
