Hi Bio,
Re-read what he said and how he said it. Carefully and with an open mind.
I have no problem with those that disagree with me - honestly - that is how we all learn finding out each person's view on things. Honestly so. I never ask that people be dishonest in their reply and WANT them to BE in their response which will help reflect WHO they ACTUALLY are. Their response can help reflect them.
As for reading my posts, that IS an individual thing each person CHOOSES to do - or not. No one "forces" anyone to read anything. By doing so does not necessarily reflect whether they have an open mind or not. It can. It also can not. It could be they are just somehow interested in what is said or they are wanting to reply just to damn or criticize - there are people who do that - they "live" for doing that.
My comment about a southern college or university is based on facts. There ARE colleges that DO have information in their libraries that reflect the entire spectrum of knowledge or at least make that honest attempt to do so. And there are those that reflect the hatred and the bigotry of those that support that college. It does depend on the college you are going to and who supports that college and what kind of college it is. And it knows no bounds necessarily - it can exist in the North or the South. In the North you will have college libraries and large public libraries that will have more information on the subject of Sexuality for example from a greater wider perspective because there is less intolerance usually - notice I did NOT say there was a total lack - you are more likely to have books on Sexuality that include the entire spectrum of thought in the North than in the South. This can also be reflected in the budget of the college and where those funds ultimately come from and I can tell you that those that contribute DO exercise their thoughts and feelings on how a college is "to operate and how money is ultimately spent" North and South...
My suggestion was in an effort for those that are interested TRUTHFULLY to finding accurate answers to seek that information from whatever source HAS that information - if a southern college does not have a large collection of books on Sexuality, for example, from all perspectives there are colleges in the north that can - and public libraries that are larger. There are larger public libraries in the north more often than in the south. There are more often than not larger colleges and universities in the north with greater operating funds. So they may have more information available than an institution that can not afford more. Also, larger institutions tend to have SOURCE material smaller ones do not. That is not always the case but is more often than not.
You ask me if I have something against "...Southern Citizens..." - I have nothing against those that are truly open minded, objective and willing to learn and discuss all they can honestly and accurately and completely - for the benefit of ALL people. People who are not honestly willing are more liklely to not want to DISCUSS much of anything. There ARE good people everywhere just as there are those not so good REGARDLESS of race, creed, etc. I can tell you my experience has shown that those that attend religious colleges are more likely to be closed minded and not very willing to DISCUSS things with an OPEN MIND AND OBJECTIVELY. By going to a religious college they already have formed their thoughts before they have even started more often than not. Admission to this type of college can reflect that. Anyone gets that even on the "street". I wish that were not true actually but anyone that wants to see for themselves can do that and find out for themselves if what I say is true or not. Try having an open-minded discussion with someone who believes religiously speaking. Some may but many will not. Once they have established their "beliefs" within themselves they are usually not willing to discuss anything any further. Learning IS LIFELONG. NO ONE KNOWS IT ALL OR EVERYTHING. A closed-minded person is a danger to everyone else AND HIMSELF. They will not grow as a person totally. They are self-limiting.
You indicate you think I have some kind of "extreme aggenda": how do you feel that way? Because I speak truthfully and ask questions many do not even discuss remotely? How is wanting to KNOW HONESTLY "extreme"?
Take Care, John H.
