How many reps should i be doing while on a cut. Im just getting ready to start cutting. I want to maintain as much mass and strength while getting as lean as possible. How many reps, 10, 12-15? any help is appreciated. THanks

12-15 is the standard rep range for cuts. Id also recommend doing more isolation exercises but still keep the majors in to keep your strength.

A 3 excercise chest routine would consist of

-bench press in the 6-8 rep range to maintain strength
-db flyes in the 12-15 range
-cable crossovers in the 12-15 range

It's all diet, reps have very very little or no effect on cuts. Just keep the diet tight and do what ever reps you want.

Dont change your training regimen. The same training that helps build mass will help to maintain the most muscle mass acquired or even add mass during a cut. Only diet and cardio change.

right now my routine consists of 6-10 reps on most lifts. Also, i checked my bf using a scale that reads bf, i dont know how accurate it is, but it says that im anywhere from 13-15% bf. generally how long would it take to drop say 3-4%bf with a clean diet and plenty of cardio?

I would think you would maintain max intensity reps...

As long as the lack of BF doesn't cause you any joint pain, or muscle cramping, or anything

:hmmm:

Are you planning to Shred for contest, or just reduce for summer!?!?

Extra reps burn extra calories. :thumb:

Personally, I don't think it should be any different than when bulking. Diet and cardio are the only things I would change.

i jsut want to get lean for summer, then start bulking back up around the end of the summer

if ur trying to cut do 5 exercises per muscle 10 sets and like 100 reps, atleast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh yea, do all muscles every day too!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

whatever you do, DONT follow your regular weight program, DONT implement a well balanced diet, and most importatly DO NOT do cardio!! :finger: :finger: :finger: :finger: :finger:

you need to still lift to build muscle just cut some calories and up the cardio...The more muscle you build the more calories that are used (even when not lifting), while higher reps burns more calories during the workout, in the long run low reps+heavy weight is the way to go.

Don't listen to the 12-15 rep nonsense...
