I've been hearing all of these horror stories about how eating too much tuna is bad for you because of it's mercury content. I personally love tuna. I eat 3 oz. of it every morning for breakfast (along with 6 oz of milk, fiber one bran cereal and dried cranberries ;) ). Are there any negatives side effects for eating that much tuna on a daily basis? Will I wake up one morning with a third ear or some other weird deformity? :spaz:

I would appreciate any information someone may have on this topic.

the mercury content in tuna is minimal compared to larger carnivore type fish. 1-2 cans/day is fine IMO.

I don't eat that much. I just eat 1 "flavor fresh pouch" a day which contains three ounces. However, according to a web site I just left. You should take in but 12 oz. a day, which I clearly exceed. Further more, I eat albacore white, which supposedly has the highest mercury content.

Dude you worry too much... I wouldnt exceed 5 cans a day, but anything under that is fine.

If I havent died from it yet, you're safe.

The tuna warning goes out mainly to soon-to-be pregnant women, pregnant women, and children.

lol, the girl checking me out at the grocery store the other day commented on the 14 cans of tuna i was buying.

Apparently she got mercury poisoning from eating too much fish... said it cost her $15,000 in medical bills.

I didnt feel like arguing, though, so just said they were "for my cat."

Poision the cat....

I been brought up on fish and a lot of other seafoods (live in a coastal fishing and farming village), ate fish near enough everyday since i was a very young kid and couldn't say i ever had any problems.

how much is too much tuna?? when you start to smell like it. until then chow down

I heard there is more mercury in the albacore than the chunk shit. Figures, I only eat albacore :grumble: I can't stand the other stuff :barf: CAT FOOD!

Albacore is way to dry for me. I like the chunk light shit. The best I found is at 41cents a can. Love it.

chunk light = doggie food

yeah i used to eat the chunk light but then i started to eat the solid white albacore and it's like trying to eat bologne after filet mignon(not that exaggerate but similar)
