is there an excess of drinking water that u can exceed

Yeah, but I don't know how much. I heard about some college kid dying from drinking I think 3 gallons in an hour.

I'de stay under 10 L a day.

Which would be 2.6417205124155844814558881017912 gallons for those of us who like to use gallons as reference :D

I shoot for 1-2 gallons a day

You want 5 clear urinations a day, 2 of them should be postworkout

I drink 6-7 liters per day, and I have to pee every 20-25 minutes. Scares me :/

It depends how much you are currently taking in as well...if you up your water intake to fast you can get sick. If you gradually increase it and train your body you can handle alot more. Many will say no more then 2 gallons a day or you risk water intoxication.

depends on your BW, level of activity, climate, etc. most people unless they are very big don't need more than 2 gallons a day.

From Lyle McDonald's Baseline Diet

Water intake
While it should be a no-brainer, water intake is another place where trainees make basic mistakes (I am guilty of this myself). The effects of dehydration range from minimal (at 2% dehydration, strength and performance decrease) to painful (can anybody say kidney stones) to worse (at 10% dehydration, death can occur).

While there are many generalized water intake equations (such as 8 glasses per day), these may not be correct for everyone. To poach a guideline from a friend of mine, a good rule of thumb is 5 clear urinations per day, and 2 of those should come after your workout. This gives trainees a way of individualizing water intake. Obviously someone who lives in a hot, humid environment (or trains in a non-air conditioned gym) will need more water than someone who lives in moderate temperatures and trains in a posh gym.

Water intake should ideally come from water and water alone. However, other sources such as milk, fruit juice, or fruit and vegetables can count towards total water intake as well. Anything with caffeine in it doesn't count because the caffeine will act as a diuretic. As well, alcohol tends to further dehydrate you so beer after a workout isn't a good way to increase your fluid intake. Oh yeah, thirst is a poor indicator of hydration state. By the time you're thirsty, you're already a bit dehydrated.

Good read truth...interesting. I'll have to count my peeing some time heh.

5000ml is enough for me. I can't remember all the details, but I do remember my doctor saying someone's thyroid getting fucked because of too much water.

I read an article by Anthony Ellis that said if you multiply your bodyweight by 2/3 (.66), then that is about the number of ounces of water you should consume in a day.

I think 2 gallons a day is a good max. I see no reason to drink more, unless you work some physical job in extreme heat where you sweat for hours on end, or something to that effect.

Good thread
I personally drink 5-6 Liters now, summer time comes, my body needs at least 1- 1.5 liters

5-7 litres a day usually for me!!!
