How often do you weight train?

I've got some different responses. I recently sent a pm to one of the mods on here asking for advice on mass, and he responded with working out no more than 4 days a week with weights. I tend to agree with him, in that muscles need rest.

Then I went and checked out an article at wannabebig.com and the article recommended working out more often, and NOT letting your muscles rest 7-10 days.

So what do you guys think?

I do it 6 days a week. I have three heavy and three light days. The light days help with flexibility, recovery, form and speed; the heavy days are to accomplish my goals.

oh damn, I probably should've mentioned that my goal is to gain mass. So how many days would you guys workout in order to gain mass?

usually 4-5 days of actually weight training a week. I try to hit everything 2x every 7 days

3 days a week but I'm bumping it up to 5 as soon as my peck heals.

I went from 5-6 days a week to 3 days because I was overtraining. Probably age had a lot to do with it. I do use a special type of training and anymore the 3 days a week would severly overtrain my old ass.

For mass I would almost say that it wouldn't matter to me so long as my diet were good. I could probably gain mass doing pretty much anything in the ballpark rep range of 5-12 with a good diet at my age. Luckily I have to put a little more thought into my training. I'd be extremely bored if it were that easy.

I was doing 2on 1off 2on 2off pattern...It worked great, but after a couple of years of it I now 3on 1off 2on 1off....This has given me new gains. I hit everything 1x a week

I have been curious about hitting 2x a week, but I am so addicted to high volume that I think I would overtrain..:bulb:

I try to stick to 3 days a week, but occasionally move up to 4 days per week. I think when I did Westside is the last time I lifted 4 days per week.

Same here. If I don't hit each exercise twice a week, I don't make progress.

3 times a week. I add a fourth day when I need to increase my weekly volume and I train 2 days a week when I take an unloading week.

I personally train every other day. Monday - on, Tuesday - off, Wednesday - on etc. the recovery time helps me. I used to train 5 - 6 days a week. Then I plateau???d out. Cut back my work out to allow a recovery day after I train and have moved past my plateau. This is what works for me and might not work for you. Hope you find some helpful information from all of us who comment.

After graduating, i was training 4 days on then a day off which is ~ 6 days a week.

It was great!! but now im having to rethink my workout because my new job has crazy hours.

I train either 3 or 4 days depending on my program. I also like to play sports one or two days a week for cardio/agility.

Hehe, only kidding. I also like to do another 2-3 days of light circuit training, callisthenics, cardio, etc.

5 days a week as per my trainer....back/chest/legs/shoulders/arms

I do anywhere from 4-5 days a week.
