I was curling about 32.5 bout a month ago and had to take a break as had a heavy schedule for a month.

Just went and worked out 2day for first time in month and thought I'd try 37.5 for a laugh just to see what happened and I curled 2 sets at 8 reps each.

I was expecting to have lost a lot of strenght - is such a gain expected....?? Maybe my muscles just needed a break???

This is why I do not push the 3x a week per muscle group training. Once I dropped to 1x a week my strength went way up.

How long had you been training at that point? What was your training program like? Perhaps you were overreaching and it took time for your adaptations to manifest themselves.

Most powerlifters train at a higher frequency than 1 time each week, even at the lower levels where drug use isn't rampant. People just don't know how to properly design a higher frequency program. Split training is a bit more idiot proof.

sure 2x a week is very common and I have trained that way many times with good results...once or twice a week is ok, going over that is something I would never reccomend.

Again, it can be done with good results. I have trained like that on many occasions, and I don't think my recovery ability is amazing. I definitely need my unloads.

By the way, do you ever sleep? I'm just dicking around while I drink my tea before work, heh.
