I thought I might give those of you who may be interested a rundown of my progress.

As I stated in my introduction to this site, I am not a bodybuilder. I am an 55 year old man with ankylosing spondylitis or, rheumatoid arthritis of the spine. My concern is directed at rebuilding muscle mass wasted away due to my disease. To that end about ten weeks ago I started a regimen of anabolic steroids.

I have been cursed with an unusually high testosterone production which was the cause of much anger, sorrow, rage, and a history of violence. Now, in my maturity, I have chosen the life of a hermit. Separating myself to live alone with the nightmares and regrets of my past. So, with understandable caution, I started my experiment with a gifted half 10ml vial of boldenone undecylenate 200mg/cc once a week. After five weeks I started seeing promise and, after considerable reading, I bought a 10ml vial of nandrolone decanate 300mg/cc two shots per week. I am now on my second vial and am very impressed with the result.

Having read that deca would cause an almost immediate cessation of all natural testosterone production, I had lab work done after my first vial. My doctor tested for nandrolone decanate and testosterone. I tested positive for deca and my testosterone level is still near 1000. I am wondering if the dreaded "deca dick" is actually a myth.

As stated in my initial introduction, my disease causes a wasting of muscle mass in spite of natural testosterone production. Our bodies respond differently to synthetic hormones so, along with my second vial of deca I have added a vial of testosterone cypionate 300mg/ml. The frequency of dosage is the same for both: one cc of each twice a week. Baring any violent tendency, I intend to continue this for two months.

Comments and suggestions are welcome,

Jack Darby

Hi Jack Darby

I have RA and spinal issues though not the same as you but I can sure feel for you. I am happy that someone gifted you some EQ and you have found it useful. I am a little shocked that one of your doctors had not tried something along this line in the past with your test issue. I love the EQ myself. It is gentle yet quite rewarding if you give it the time it needs to work. I have not used Deca but have and enjoy NPP. Faster acting deca basically.

I would think that with a test level of 1000 you may well not get any deca dick. I suspect that you will find a great deal of wonderful information here at IM that you can use to help better your situation.

My best suggestion would be to keep researching and read everything you can find that has been posted by Heavyiron and OldSchoolLifter for a good start. They have posted so much good information that I know you will find some that you can incorporate into something useful to your needs. Beyond that there is so much good info here and so many good people here with such a wide array of experience that you cannot lose by making friends here.

Whatever you do stop regretting the past. Wow thats easy to say but I also know how hard it is to do. I have been in the same place. With the journey that you have begun with AAS and posting here I hope this will be your beginning to a new and better life. If you hang around here you will make some good friends and learn much useful information.

I am interested in hearing how you progress for sure. Hang in there and best of luck!

For twenty-five years I was prescribed NSAIDS for my disease. The last of which was Viox. None of them worked for more than a couple of weeks, yet the side effects ALWAYS continued for as long as I took these killer drugs.

When the internet was just becoming public, I searched the world for the opinions of doctors from other countries. I found that in Germany, France, England, and Australia, there had been great success in the treatment of my ailment with anabolic steroids. I approached my doctor with my findings who met me with a wall of the most hysterical brainwash I have ever heard. I was told that anabolic steroids would surely cause every organ in my body to die a horrible death if I didn't first kill over from heart attack. Needless to say I have had a very low opinion of the pharmaceutical/medical industry. For the most part I believe the goal is not to cure, or even provide a better quality of life, but to maintain a base of disease ridden cash cows to milk for as long as they are willing and able to pay.

There are some doctors for whom I have great respect. My current physician has my respect and my friendship. Neither of which I give freely. When I expressed my interest in anabolic steroids he printed out pages of medical research on the subject so that I might be well informed prior to beginning my experimentation.

Ankylosing spondylitis causes a calcification of the vertebrae, and deterioration of the joints of the shoulders and hips. The end result in those without the mental strength to lift weights in the face of excruciating pain is a body devoid of muscularity, a fused spine, and shoulder joints that refuse to lift the arms above waist high.

Though far from a bodybuilder, I am an excellent example of determination, tenacity, and resolve. My single minded goal for the last thirty years has been the defeat of my ailment.

Thank you for your input, hypno. I am always interested in your views, knowledge, and opinions. After all, anything we have learned in this life has come from those who came before.

I never quit, I never surrender, I never retreat.

Jack

WTG Jack! I am not overly surprised to hear that a doctor tried to scare you away from steroids. It is hard to find a good doctor these days. It sounds like you have though and that is great news.

You likely tried this but just in case, I use Mobic. For me it works wonders. Yes it is a NSAID and maybe not so good for you but who knows.

I think you have already met your goal and are surpassing it daily. I think that by not giving up and continuing to fight even after that first doc fed you a bunch of outright bull shows that you are winning this one!

Maybe after a little more time on the Deca you will find some relief from it as well. It seems that many find it helps joint pain considerably. Even if it doesn't lower your test levels if it helps with pain it will be worthwhile.

I'm happy to hear the deca is helping. A lot of us use it for joint pain and it's great for adding strength aswell.
Since you have been doing so much research I'm sure you are aware you need to do a PCT(Post cycle therapy) after you stop your experiement.
There are sticky's on this but if you need help just hollar and one of us will jump in to help you through it.
Find a good source to get your HCG, clomiphene citrate, etc.
If you need help with that just hollar aswell. I prefer the tabs(pharm grade) over any research chems.
One more thought, most of us prefer to do our HCG during our cycles rather than after and it sure would help your recovery.
But as I said just read up, you'll see what I mean.
Best of luck to you.
P.S. We are the same age also. LOL
And I still cycle several times per year.

Roaddkingg,

I am sure PCT will be necessary, but I would like to know what happens without PCT. Also, your mentioned HCG and clomiphene citrate. What else do you recommend.

My cycle:

300mg test (cyp) and 300mg deca sucked up into the same shot to the glut twice a week.

Is that a good first cycle? How long to should the cycle be?

Thanks,
Jack

honestly man at your age and with your disease it might be beneficial for you to stay on low dose test year round... it would definitely help you from experiencing any muscle wasting.

I agree 1000% ^

I don't see how it's physically possible for your test levels to be in the 1000's, especially at your age and while on deca. At 55 I'd tell anyone to get on TRT but for you it may be even more important. It will be a much smoother transition out of your cycle, pct can be somewhat unpleasant and at 55 you may have an even more difficult time recovering your test levels. As far as the length, I don't think you'd have any issues running 16-18 weeks or so, you may not really get the full effect of the deca if you don't run it long enough. Hopefully it will help out your joints on top of helping you gain some muscle.

I'd definitely give some thought to getting on medically prescribed TRT though, or possibly doing it yourself. In that case if the deca helps you could essentially run a low dose of it year round. It would also most likely help greatly in retaining muscle on top of around 200-250mg test a week. It's much cheaper and less of a hastle IMO to do it yourself but keep in mind you should get bloodwork every few months especially to check things like your red blood cell count and hematocrit because they can become an issue even on fairly low doses of AAS.

Along with deca, I also am on 300mg testosterone cypionate twice a week. I am not a large man, in fact I am an ectomorph with small bones at that. Until I was 45 I lifted weights every day for about 3 hours, ran 10 miles a day and smoked 5 packs of Kool filter kings every day. I often smoked while I ran. And I RAN. Jogging was far too slow for my long legs and I was never satisfied unless my heart rate shot up to at least 250 beats per minute. I was five feet ten, and weighed 180 lbs at three percent body fat with a resting heart rate of 35.

I had boundless energy, extremely high testosterone levels, was a sex fiend, and in a constant state of rage. Then the worst of this disease hit with a ton.

My testosterone levels dropped to where they are now, somewhere between 800 and 1000, and no matter what I did or how hard I worked out I simply could not retain muscle mass. I began to waste away. The pain was so great even I could no longer stand it. For five years I was on methadone - the strongest pain killer I have ever taken.

No longer able to lift weights, I could not stop my spine from fusing, my shoulders from becoming useless, and my hips hurt so bad I walked with a cane. I was so weak I could no longer pick up my horse's feet to clean her hooves. Depression, sorrow, regret, and sleepless nights had become my only friends.

I simply could not understand why, with such high testosterone levels I could not continue to work out and why I had dropped from 180 lbs to 140 in less than a year. Then I met a doctor who is more than just a pusher for the pharmaceutical industry. He ran test after test until I thought I would surely die from blood loss. Turns out the testosterone I produce is "locked up" (his words), and about all it does for me is keep me looking about ten years younger than my years and my hair from turning gray. I do not produce DHT in any measurable quantity.

When the disease had done its worse, the pain began to lessen and I got off methadone - cold turkey. If anything can be said about me, I am not gutless. I began to rehabilitate first my shoulders and when I had regained (through MUCH pain) full range of motion in both, I started working on my hips.

My right hip socket had a couple of bone spurs that caused me to need a cane. The best bone and joint man around wanted to replace the hip. Instead I bought one of those leg stretching gizmo's Karate students use. After about three months I managed to work up the nerve to crank it out past the limit where the bone spurs had it mechanically stopped. I broke the spurs clean off and have had no problems with my hips since, save what one might expect from someone with rheumatoid arthritis.

I started lifting weights again. Pitiful. At first I could only bench 40lbs. That was six months ago. I managed to gain about 5lbs of muscle, but I could tell that without chemical aid, I would never be able to gain much more.

Since I have started anabolic steroids I have gained from 140lbs to 160lbs. I can bench my body weight most days and lately have been able to bench 170 for one set of 5 reps.

Six months ago when I started lifting again my chest was 38 inches. It is now 42 inches and I am getting my lats back.

No matter what the negative propaganda, anabolic steroids have saved my life. I will never look back.

First off you really are a PERFECT candidate for HRT, I say HRT because your doc might be able to get you things like HGH, The Testosterone, Possible even deca (not sure on that one).

but above you touched on a very important point; you have no FREE testosterone, which essentially means that it does not matter how much test you are supposedly producing, or even taking, your body is not able to make efficient use of it.

So what you need to do is lower you SHBG levels which will increase your FREE (useable) Test. Provirion and Masteron are well know to do this. I would look in to it if i were you.

Excellent information, rc771, and the reason I joined this site. The medical industry has many doctors who are well studied, but just because you can read a blue print it doesn't mean you can build a house.

I have done some reading on synthetic steroids and it appears that they are analogs, that is to say not quite the same chemical as produced by the body. The gains I have made in just a couple of months have led me to believe that synthetic testosterone along with the deca I've been experimenting with are being used by my body. So far.

I am quite the novice though, and do not have the answers yet. People like you will get me there, and I appreciate what you have said and will study up.

As always, thank you all for your information and concern. The bastards told me I would be a cripple. With your help I intend to prove them all wrong.

Oh, and nice photo, by the way. Love those cannon ball deltoids. A lot of work went into that very impressive physique of yours. A lot of work and several years.
