This is what I get for parking the stang outside...Sometime between me coming home late monday night and leaving for work tuesday night, someone tried jacking the wheels off my ride. OR, just wanted me to die.

I really didn't feel anything different at low speed, but i only live 1/2 mile from the freeway, just a straight road with a bunch of stop signs so no real chance of catching anything unusual going on at 25mph. Once I got on the highway the back end started jerking. So I pulled to the slow lane and tried to feel out what could be wrong, but before i knew it the rear wheel blew off and we both went for a ride in opposite directions.

I didn't even want to look at the damage. They're going to call me today to come up there. The wrecker operator tried to put the wheel back on with just one of the lugs from the other rear tire and they weren't even finger tight on that side either....I haven't had those wheels off since spring so it wasn't a careless mistake..someone was up to no good. Fucking bastards. :shooter:

Damn. Sounds like it's gonna be pricey. Glad you're okay though. Maybe you'll get lucky and only have to replace the rotor.....?

^ You mean the projects.

hey i just read a thread about some dude tryin to jack tires of a stang last night....

Whoa, dude, you deserve to bitch, that sucks royally! You should consider yourself lucky that it wasn't worse, like a 20 car pile up.

I hate shitty people. Sadly our world is full of them. Makes me try that much harder to not be

Thanks guys. I know for sure the rear bumper is toast, along with the rotor, hub, and studs on that side. I went off the highway so I imagine a bit more undercarriage damage was done. The wheel ended up on the other side of the highway and the tow truck driver wouldn't go get it. He's like "to be honest, i don't think it's worth it." pfftt $600 a tire alone, it's worth it. Not to mention the wheel which I had widened to fit the tire.

The projects are only about two miles away, i imagine it was some scumbag kids from out that way. If it was a professional the car would be long gone. I pick my fights strategically though, we had a hitman out here a few years ago. I had no idea (guess that's the point.)

$600 for a mustang tire...

yeah right

:winkfinger:

My rears are 335/35/17, had the wheels widened to 11", steam rollers all day! Earlier this year, finding a 335/35/17 non-drag specific tire was near impossible. Nation wide back order on all three brands.

What year is this mustang?

Bro this is my other hobby too and I know 11" is too small for 335s that came on the F40, Diablo, and first Viper. Yeah you probably got them on there but it's not safe. I think 11" is the minimum for 315/35/17 from the ZR1. I never heard of widening a wheel either.

I think he means widening the wheel well to stuff the tires under there. Just a guess.

That would make sense. Not many people retorque their lugs after they're first installed and suppose to be. I also tell the mechanics not to put mine on with an impact gun because it over torques them and is clever way to warp your rotors and get to pay for new ones.

in for the year. usually if a thief wants to steal rims they do it one at a time, most logical seeing how if you get caught you still have 1 wheel worth $400 on ebay at least. I think someone tried to fuck your shit up on purpose.

315s fit perfect on a 10.5", 335s would fit snug with a little overlap on the 10.5 but it wouldn't be very safe and you wouldn't be utilizing the entire width of the tire. 11" is the minimum for 335s but preferred is 11.5-12. A lot of stang guys have crammed the 335s on the 10.5ers and it works..but like i said, your missing out on a few more inches of tire hitting the pavement so it's pretty stupid. I don't have any pictures with these but I do have some of the kumho 335s i ran..just have to figure out how to get rid of any gps info on the pictures and i'll post em up. It's def a fat ass.

And I did in fact mean widening the wheel. www.weldcraftwheels.com/ you mail your wheels to them and they will actually cut them and widen them to your specs. It's fairly cheap (for what it is) and 100% safe. The only mods needed for my wheel wells was removing the quad shock and a little hammering here and there. I had a jeep so i'm no stranger to smash and fit. The stang is an 03 btw.

Should have bought some locking lug nuts to protect those shiny rims.

The project cats would have took your shit, plan and simple. Why go through the trouble of loosening your tires, risk getting caught and make no money of it. I used to be one.

They are all pros or know one.

Probably some stupid kids that just got done watching a Steven Seagal movie, and I would bet they live very close to you too. Just don't see anybody walking 2 miles to loosen up some random tires.

Yeah you're absolutely right. The more I thought about it the more it didn't make sense that they were just trying to steal them. Unless they had two stupid kids working at once and got spooked and took off.I happen to have a scumbag kid across the street who ironically has been arrested for theft in our neighborhood. He doesn't come out of the house, ever. I almost didn't think he lived there anymore. Not sure if he's on house arrest or what. Though a few nights a week a car will show up and park in front of my house for an hour or two waiting for him. Ironic one of his friends that's over the house right now has an 05 stang? :hmmm:

Glad you are ok and safe.
IF it makes you feel better, back in '09, was at a club near closing time.
An announcement came over the system:
Would the owner of a......please come to the back door.
So, I did.
What's wrong w/ my car?
Man...you have to SEE this.

FML
So, walked out to my find my car on blocks. All four wheels. Gone.
Nothing else. just the tires and rims.
Girl I was with said: Man, I feel bad!
I responded: If you want to feel bad, feel ba they didn't take the whole effing car!
( was WAY upside down in and had gap insurance)

But, I got 4 new rims and nice Z Rated Pirelli tires, plus other damage.
so, hope your insurance helps you. You have receipts for all the mods/tires?
