Hey everyone. i just opened a membership at lifetime fitness and ive been working out there everyday for 2 weeks and it doesnt seem like im getting any results. i dont like to use the free weights since i have a screw in my elbow. i use the machines there and run on the tread mill then hit the machines for a litltle longer. then i drink a protien shake and hit the pool for a bit. im not really sure when to drink the protien shake. also i was wondering if anyone knows of a good routine to follow. i am 5' 10" 156lbs and want to get my abs back. any help is appriceated

thanks

Most people drink the protein shake post workout. You got to realize that at least half of getting results in the gym is diet. So make sure thats in order. Go read the stickies in the diet and nutrition section.

hhmmmmm......

me thinks someone is taking the piss...?

Your not even at the beginner stage yet. First things first 6 months. That's how long it will take your body to get Acclimated to the weights. Meanwhile keep doing research and try a few different exercises that will not stress your arm. You can still hit free weights but maybe just not heavy weight. Just be patient and don't rush it or you will injure yourself even more. Good luck

Your body needs a break. Especially since you are new.
Focus on form and compound movements. Eat
Read the stickies

I'm going to say the same thing as everyone else, go check the stickies in the diet and training section.

How are you liking Lifetime itself though? I belong to a Lifetime as well and I love the place.

I got a lifetime membership for the jelly of the month club. It payed for itself in like 2 weeks.

please research bro and jus eat and stick with it all of us have been in your shoes before DEDICATION DETERMINATION AND DISCIPLINE is what it takes

thanks for the advice everyone. i will read up on the diets and nutrition and give myseld a day to rest inbetween workout days... i love lifetime fitness it has everything you need.

there are lots of routines that work. the trick is to stick to one routine for at least six months to see the benefits. as you get stronger i would slowly move to compound exercises and do less machines.

You need to do compound exercises from the beginning.

When you made this post I made it out that you had got a LIFETIME membership to a gym, meaning you are a member for life. But after reading your post, this is the name of the gym? Is that correct? Lol, sounds dumb but just wondering.

Yes Lifetime is the name of the gym haha.

Eat, train and wait at least 6 month for results. If it was that easy to see some results after two weeks, we would have been all pros by now :)

I agree 100%. But his case is a little different than most guys and that's why i recommended gradually moving to compound exercises.

i dont like to use the free weights since i have a screw in my elbow.
