Keto Diet Basics Help

Hey fellow builders
So I have lately heard about the keto diet and how good it is for cutting. But I would like to know the basics of this diet. I already know that I have to get a very small amount of carbs,adequate protein,high fat in order to get into the state of ketosis. But I wanted to know wether I still can take whey protein or not, and if yes should it be before or after the workout. And also about the time I eat, should it be before or after the workout? I would really appreciate any help.
 
Lyle McDonald wrote a book on ketogenic dieting - how about going to bodyrecomposition and picking up a copy. It should answer any of your questions.

READ THE BOOK no one will give you the easy way out, i got the book and read the book and then asked questions and got built to help me with it.
 
It's a good book but you can find a lot of good shorter write-ups by just searching for the following key words:

palumbo diet (straight keto)
cyclic ketogenic diet (weekend carb ups)
targeted ketogenic diet (pre and pwo carbs)

There are tons of articles out there on these. Lyle is considered the 'keto guy' but even he hates that title.
