There's no reason you shouldn't be able to lose that weight. Read the stickies. Shoot to lose 1-3 lbs. per week to keep it healthy, you may lose a little more than that the first couple of weeks.

Losing 10 lbs a month is definitely doable. Your going to need to be strict with your diet and your workouts. No cutting corners. Stay well within your caloric intake for a cut and map out a training schedule that is intense and you should have no problem. Mind you, since you are quite a bit overweight for your height, your first 2 weeks of working out are going to be less than stellar. Don't get discouraged, push yourself hard and you will notice after 2 week or so mark that you can push yourself MUCH farther as your body adjusts. As far as mentally feeling healthy and more confident can simply be had by getting through the first week. Good luck and stay active here to keep health and training on the mind.

For sure its possible. I had a goal to lose 55lb by my b-day which is May 3rd. I started at 257lb five weeks ago and I'm down to 239lb. I haven't used a single weight loss pill either. I only train 3 times a week, but I train damn hard. Diet control is certainly more than half of the battle, I used to do the fast food thing a lot and only ate a couple times a day. Now I eat every 3hrs roughly, with my first meal at 7am and my last around 8 or 9pm.

This site is a great wealth of knowledg, do not hesitate to use it to its full advantage. Best of luck to you.

I heard melting point works well

I think it goes beyond some pills. His diet and training schedule need to be on point before he even thinks of that.

Yes it goes way way beyond pills. While they can help now and then you not only need to change your eating, but your lifestyle. It is very tough for me to eat clean all the time. I have 2 kids and a wife and they like to eat. So whenever we go out somewhere I want to eat something half way decent like sub way. Well I get out voted and they want McDonalds or something. So we go there and I will get a single cheesegurger. While not the best choice in the world I will not skip a meal. Muscle building is far more important to me than losing muscles because of a cut. For the most part if your diet is clean you will be fine. Just got to figure out what works for you and what doesnt. I can get away with that burger every now and then, others cant.

I agree a pill can be a good supplement to a healthy lifestyle, but too many folks look at the marketing and think they are buying a miracle in a bottle and that just isn't true. Couple with good diet and excercise, I have seen them work well. I myself have never used them though, and don't plan to unless I hit a major plateau and changing my diet and routine doesn't work. Which I suspect it always will.

good post :rocker:

thank you sir, i am a novice compared to most here. Just looking at this whole fitness thing with my old attitude and desire. Its been four long years but its good to be back.

It all stems from the misconseption that pills are NEEDED to achieve a certain goal. I take supplements to ENHANCE my hard work and deditcation, not supplement for my shortcomings. Once you understand that, it is ok to take some supplements.

60 lbs in 6 months should be very easily achievable. As long as you keep yourself in a healthy caloric deficit (500 roughly) you will see quick results. When you are as overweight as you are the body is just dying to get rid of the fat and will respond real well to just dieting alone. Once you add exercise to the equation you will start melting away almost immediately. Expect to see your fastest losses at first as you lose water weight. Losing the fat is the easy part, sticking to the diet and your routine is whats tough. If you can get through the first month you will start to really see results and that will give you the motivation to keep going. The only time I would suggest using any sort of supplelement is if you find that you just cant control your appetite/cravings, then an appetite suppressent might help, but only use these temporarily until you have control, do not depend on them to lose all of your weight. As far as diet and training go, read the stickies and plan something out that will work for you.

Once you've been eating healthy and training for six months and you reach your goals you will look back and wonder how you ever could of lived you old lifestyle. Its amazing how much your life changes when you take control of your health.

Congrats on making the decision to burn fat. I lost 85lbs of fat. It took me 14 months of doing cardio and eating smaller meals. I started with Weight Watchers but you can do it on your own if you practice consistency and study up on the basics at the library or the Internet. I walked, 3-4 miles a day with nine pound weights in each hand, doing curls and shoulder presses while walking at a good pace. Each workout took approx an hour. At the end I was doing 740 reps while walking 4 miles a day, five days a week. At least, that's what worked for me. The fat just melted.

Never took any supplements during that 14 month period. Eat clean, that is lean protein, vegetables, rice, lots of water, and a little fruit. I always did a cheat meal twice a month to avoid feeling like a monk.

Good luck
