Im 5'9 about 140, and really thin. I have about a 32-34 inch chest and size 28 waist. However, last year i started doing calisthenics every day. Within months my shoulders got way broader and pectorils more pronounced. Now my problem is proportion, I want to get back to narrower shoulders to accompany my smaller frame and legs. How can I go about losing muscle and not gaining fat or loose skin from it. Also, even though I have a small waste, I have had, since I was young, naturally thick and stocky legs, upper thighs more. This causes problems when getting pants, sometimes wastes will be just right but the legs are too thin for me, so I need a bigger waste to make up for my thickers legs. Is it possible to lose mass in my thighs, which I have inherited from heredity, or are those just my genes and nothing I can do to change it.

If diet is important, I will quickly describe my eating habits. Every morning I have a granola or fruit bar with some juice and a multi-vitamin. Lunch a sandwich with salad(usually just lots of green lettuce spinich and cucumbers) and fruit (always fresh not canned, pineapples, grapes, apples, melon). Sandwiches always with wheat. Dinner a sandwich or sometimes pasta with salad and fruit. Always drink skim milk. I run maybe twice a week.

Thanks alot

at 5'9 140 lbs how can you have stocky legs ? hard to tell but it just sounds like you have a small upper body and maybe carry the majority of your weight around the mid-secton and upper leg area...

I have the same problem, my waist is 26.3 inches but I tend to store fat in my thighs and lower ab region, so I know what you mean about picking out pants, the thighs part is always to tight.
Instead of trying to lose muscle to even yourself out, why not gain mucle to even yourself out :thumb: it would require proper dieting (you really need to fix up your diet) and proper training but the awards are great!
But if you don't want to gain to even yourself out, I have no idea how someone would go about losing muscle  I think you'd have to cut out all protein from your deit, and start eating lots of junk  you'd probably gain some fat while doing this but you'll probably lose muscle too, don't see too many fat people out there with muscle ;)

i'm the same, upper body is very lean, but lower body is a lot more stocky, i seem to hold all my weight around my mid-section, arse and legs

i used to want thinner legs and even a smaller head!! i know it sounds crazy but then i actually thought... hey maybe my upper body is just skinny? if i build a bigger upper body then i will get more in proportion... and thats exactly what i did!

i'm a LOT more in proportion now than i used to be, i regularly get comments about looking good and having a fit body, or as the little college girls around my way say... 'hez got a wel buff body', and its all good

obviously i know i'm looking okay now, i still wanna take it to the next level and be turning heads with a big plate of chest armor, big guns, big wheels and a small waist which i have genetically due to this body type that you guys have as well

i'm actually okay with holding weight around the lower body, as i won't look so freak like with a set of chicken legs and a built upper body

deffinatly get building yo upper body up man, i've tried losing that fat around my lower midsection and legs plenty of times, i'm pretty certain its genetic n' won't shift, but if you have a pumped up upper body you'll shock the face off everyone when you whip your top off, i know i do and its great coz they don't expect it

peace

thanks for the replies guys, see im not exactly out of proportion, im really skinny in my upper body primarily in the mid section and waste my shoulders match my legs fine. Its not that I have fat in my thighs, they are just muscular, I think it's not only from genetics but all the soccer I played when I was younger. Also you suggested fixing my diet, how so? Thanks

- i dont really want to build muscle on my upper body either, Im just not a fan of having huge muscles

here's a link, read up :D
after you've done some reasearch/reading post the diet you caame up with and I'm sure some people will help you out with it.
I'm not a huge fan of huge muscles on me but I think they look great on other people! :thumb: it takes alot of hard work and dedication to get to where there at. I use to work my ass off to try and stay thin, but I relized that thin isn't everyhting, so I'm now offically gaining muscle, so far I've gained 8.5lbs and my waist has gone up .3 inches so I kno wit's been good old muscle :D , I'm not actually bigger, just alot more tones, I don't think you actually start adding mass untill after 20 lbs

Alright looks like I have something to do at work tomorrow :)

Thanks-I'll see what I can do.
