Just like the title says, my lower back muscles have been really tight for a couple of days following a chest workout. Does this mean I'm using too much weight or inproper form? What else could it be?

My last 2 chest workouts were the same.
Hammer strength wide bench - 3 sets of 6-8 reps
Machine flys - 3 sets 8-10 reps
Hammer strength incline bench - 3 sets of 6-8 reps

Each set I go to exhaustion so I guess the weight would be fairly heavy.

I also work out my tri's on chest day usually doing 9 sets of 8-10 (varying between three different excerises).

With hammer strength, I wouldn't think you could have bad form but I could be wrong.

Thanks,
Chris

u don't arch ur back when doing benching do u???

I'm not completely sure. I know with the incline bench, I usually don't arch my back. Its possible I do on wide bench though. Should I or should I not arch my back???

A slight arch yes, but not where you're pushing your lower back up and possibly rasing your butt off of the bench.

I know I don't go to that extreme. If anything, I may not be arching enough.

I'm curious what could be causing this to happen. I've been doing the same type of workouts for the past couple of years and haven't had any problems until now. I guess I'll really pay attention to my form next week when I hit up my chest exercises again.
