I'm really fretting how I am going to maintain my weight that I've worked hard to put on in the last 7 months even though it was only ~15 lbs I really don't want to lose any of it during two-a-days. Its hard for me to eat enough calories in whole foods especcially after hard workouts its just how I am if I eat to many big meals I feel incredibly full and just want to sleep the rest of the day. I need some help as in what I should do during the 10 days of two-a-days to just keep the weight on.

Eat. I suggest upping your fats for easy calories.

Why two-a-days?

He's talking about football.

I'd recommend shakes, and frequent nutrient dense meals. Honestly, you probably won't be able to keep on ALL of the weight without eating ice cream all day long or something like that...but I'd have a shake after each hard workout, and make that thing packed with good calories...milk, fruit, whey PP, peanut butter, oats, etc. Combine that with healthy fats, carb-dense foods like pastas, and you should do alright.

All you can do is eat and eat and eat clean so you can have enough "room" to eat again later. Make sure youre doing the good carbs too. Youre gonna lose anyways. Most of it will be water. Thats why you weigh in and weigh out....at least I hope your coaches have enough sense to make you do that. Hopefully they have portable water stations for you with water on, at least mostly, on demand.

We had a guy lose 25lbs in one practice! We were in the cafeteria after practice and you could hear a tray and food drop, and something go "Gaahh". He basically had a whole body cramp and they sent him to the ER for fluids and electrolytes.

Like built said, keep the good fats up too. Peanut butter would be daily for me. And yes protein shakes with oats would also be at least a daily thing. how much do you weigh, what position? How long until after practice til you eat?

Alright, thanks for the replies and weighing before and after is that so you know how much water you need to drink after practice or what?

to make sure youre not losing too much water at the practice! Is this high school or college?

What is your weight right now? And what position?

this is highschool my weight is 174 right now and my positions are Defensive end, Tight End, and some Outside Linebacker

Well I'd still weigh in and out just to know.
Maybe in highschool they want try to kill you as much as college.
I'd like the idea of getting some whey and oats right after practice. Then a decent meal an hour after that.

and for the 6 am practice what should I eat before that?

For a tough 6 am practice, I'd eat a good meal before bed the night before, and then have a shake in the morning before. You want something quick because clearly you'd rather be sleeping at 4:30 am instead of waking up and making yourself eggs, oatmeal, skim milk and fruit.

alright and yes, that is a true story.

yea, I always had trouble with eating big before practice and I would always have an upset stomach at practice because I had eaten chicken breast and rice or 2 whole-wheat chicken sandwhiches before, I could handle the meals you've mentioned though.

Wow! You are new, but your advice is always is dead on. It even reminded me of some long forgotten memories of cramps that almost had me on the floor begging for god to make it stop.

I would like to add that I believe drinking a lot of whole milk, and eating bananas helped me during my junior and senior year to hold onto weight.

Also, I was often times too tired to eat when I got home, so taking a bong rip wouldn't hurt you at all during two-o-days...if you are already into that sort of thing. If not, disregard what I said.

Well thanks. I've been a trainer and/training for about 14 years. But being on this board has taken me to a higher level of physiological thermodynamics:nerd:

In college we had breakfast after the am and dinner after the pm. So we did at least have the chance to get good solid meals in. I probably was doing 2 to 3 bananas a day. I think they also helped me with another thing....I noticed that for about a year 99% of my farts had no smell! Amazing. After I graduated they returned to being normally horrendous....Go figure.
