Mark McWire - not a rat

I watched the whole thing on TV today and it was redic......also Jose Canseco is a fuckhead......

"What I will not do, however, is participate in naming names and implicating my friends and teammates,'' said McGwire, who ranks sixth in major league history with 583 homers.
I respect him for that.

Canseco while under house arrest got busted for gear in his mail. Smart guy that one.

Canseco needs to get beat, what a pussy he is.

Ill be very surprised if he doesn't get beat. He's made more enemies in the past month than that Cubs fan. What a dickhead way to make some money...

I think it's ridiculous how people praise McGwire for "not ratting", while everyone gave Bonds shit for not admitting just b/c Bonds is a dick, and everyone loves McGwire.

Although i completely agree with their choice to not admit anything so they wouldn't hafta get crucified by the fucking media, In essence they did the exact same thing, so nobody should harp on Bonds for that anymore...

I think the whole thing is stupid as shit, and the media makes everyone think that steroids make you better at baseball, while overshadowing the fact that these men were professionals before using, but that means nothing to them. Steroids can make you stronger, but they can't give you the skill that it took for these guys to make it to the pros. I highly doubt Dean Smith would lose his "Most Winningest College Basketball Coach" title if they found out he used while coaching.

I am so sick and tired of the entire thing. I got in a discussion the other night at the dinner table with my family about Steroids. It's unbelievable what the Media does to even my family.

I assume you mean gearheads as "everyone" and I can say I haven't seen anything like that on the boards which I can recall. As for the general public, their views are going to be skewed just as ours are, some are going to comdemn then both, others are probably going to say who cares. I dont see any logic to being pissed at Bonds though for not coming out and saying "yeah I use steroids so all my numbers are meaningless."

im getting so tired of this shit, it's fucking ridiculous.

next time your parents start badmouthing steroids b/c of the biased story they read in the paper or misleading show on TV, tell them "well actually, mom, steroid use isn't bad for you, abuse is. anabolic steroids, when used properly, are actually very beneficial for the human male. They increase lean muscle mass, strength, red blood cell count....." and keep going so maybe they learn a thiing or two ;)

Technically little to none of us use it "properly." Unless of course we are going off of Hitler's reason for using it on his soldiers.

Who was it that posted his cycle? He wasn't using a lot of stuff, 400mg test, a ridiculously low amount of winny per week, and I believe one other compound.

some of my buddies know i'm gonna start the juice in a month and started calling me with all these horror stories that they heard from the gym and i replied "Well, what was the guy taking and for how long?", they had no idea what it was they were taking so couldn't respond. People are just ignorant to steriods plain and simple!

yup.

that's why you just gotta ignore everyone when it comes to juice, b/c they don't know shit.

I had to stop watching the whole spew of political psycobabble, it was pissing me off to the max. And the fact that these guys were great atheletes BEFORE gear came into play was a great comment, but knowone seems to remember that shit. Now that this crock of a political witch-hunt is being directed to most professional sports, I'm whondering how long it will take for the greater population of of dumb shits and mind-numbed socialy inept reterds to turn thier attention to bodybuilding? THAT scares me. And major props to Mcgwire, he may not get to have his favorite coctail of happy juice once a week but he's a stand up dude-you dont rat on your friends. I'd like to see him get a bat and knock a hommer into each one of those federal representatives heads, and take Conseco with them.

I wonder when all this will cool off. I suppose when we have another true american tragedy, the heat will pass quickly. The public/govt/media are all quite fickle.

Though I didn't see the proceedings, McGuire definitely gained a measure of respect in my opinion. Respect he has never lacked though.

Like someone else mentioned, I wouldn't be too surprised if Canseco has a little accident in the near future. All of major league baseball is bound to be seething. Not to mention the unwanted attention that is being placed on all the dealers. Canseco isn't too brilliant or he would recognise that he is essentially messing with organized crime. His money may not last him long.

I was troubled by how stupid (and ignorant) the congressmen and senators were. One guy asked something along the lines of "Would that uhhh increased aggression and hyperactivity steroids produce would that uhh let a batter see the ball better and improve his hand eye coordination?"

The parents, although it sucks what they went through, were by far the most ridiculous. When asked "Would your son still be alive if MLB players did not use steroids?" by a congressman, all 4 replied "yes." Zero responsibility. I suppose it's Barry Bonds's fault your son went to mexico, bought steroids and I bet Bonds even injected them for him. And of course one of the dads said "I didn't realize he was on steroids while he was alive, but when I look back, I guess I should have noticed something was wrong when he put on about 30 pounds of muscle in his upper body, had severe acne on his face and back, and developed breast tissue." What a moron.

The only intelligent thing that was said was by a psychiatrist who was responding to someone's comparison of steroids to cocaine and heroin. He said something along the lines of "Cocaine and Heroin users are using the drugs simply to get high, whereas steroid users often use the drugs as a means to help them acheive their goals."

2 Teens commit suicide (blamed on roids), and this merits a uproar over the danger of steroids? Compare roids to any drug, including alcohol and tobacco and let's check the death rate.

VERY well written.

I mean, COME ON. The parents don't let the kids accept ANY responsibility???
What about all the people who have ever used steroids and not committed suicide? I'm sorry, but those 2 kids had some fucked up things going on in their heads, no question. How can something be so cut-n-dry as to say steroids caused it. To say, "yes" to "would your sons still be alive if MLB players didn't use steroids" is fucking absurd.

you want to tackle a REAL problem, Mr. President? how about alcohol. See how many peoples' lives get ruined, how many families get ruined and people's lives get forever changed due to some fucked up thing that happened with the sauce. Or how about tobacco? a drug that is PROVEN to cause cancer, heart disease, and DEATH.

and comparing steroids to heroin and crack????????????????? You CANT be serious. You ever seen a crackhead or someone who is having withdrawals from heroin?
You gov't officials sometimes wanna make me puke :barf:

This is why i believe Arnold needs to step in and stick up a little for steroids. Sure he hasta do what is literally "politically correct", but i mean, DAMN, wtf!

Exactly.

This won't pass until a REAL tragedy happens. Have people forgotten about Iraq? Oh, that's right, whether or not Bonds' HR's go a little further outta the park b/c he took steroids is MUCH more important that all the people that are getting killed  :barf:

In todays world we love to pass the buck dont we. I agree that it sucks they lost their kids, but coping with something by blaming others is at best forgiveable over the short term. In the long term they should damn well know better. They seem rather delusional, and its a pretty lame way to want to cope with the loss of a son by blaming an organization.

I haven't heard any praising of McGwire. Actually, here in detroit; all the radio stations are ripping on him for crying.

I'm so sick of seeing this shit on TV everyday.....money could be spent bettering education in schools, or adding a class in school to teach people how to eat so eventually our country won't be full of lard asses....but instead the governement is spending millions on getting steroids out of a sport. How important....steroids in baseball has no impact on our lives. People on the media bitch about it being unfair for the non using players...I have not see one non using player come out and say they are pissed about it...cause the bottom line is if you sucked before the steroids you are still going to suck on them.

Did those same stations bash Osama for having an unkempt beard? I'm sure glad we are getting down to the important issues.

They saying the same here in NY.

Our government is operating in a deficeit and people are paying 30 cents of every dollar they make in taxes. Isn't it wonderful to know our federal legislative branch is concentrating on the important issues like "cheating" in professional sports.

Flex, regarding alcohol, I agree, it's completely ridiculous to worry about 2 kids who KILLED THEMSELVES and the parents blame steroids, when alcohol is killing thousands of innocent people through drunk driving. 2 kids' deaths (These span like a 5 year period) are blamed on steroids, how many people die every hour that's related to alcohol somehow? Perscription drug abuse? It's sad but if steroids want fair treatment you're gonna need a steroid lobby to start forking over cash to the government.

The one thing about all of this. There are many reporters and media personalities and fans insisting that statistical records and accomplishments be stricken from the record books. Now how in the heck is anybody to know who's records and statistics should be stricken? How do we know who was or was not on the juice for crying out loud? Yeah, sure, baseball should clean itself up but this is not congress's responsibility. I didn't vote for any of these clowns to regulate professional baseball's steroid policy. I want some action on tax reform, deficit reduction, illegal immigration and national security. Where does baseball fit into all of this? How is a Barry Bonds 500 ft homer a threat to my life or my pocketbook?
