crazy_enough said:Im surprised you feel that way, honsetly! I have been training in the MooKwang form of TKD with grand Master Tae E. Lee, 9th degree black belt(about 5"2, 120 pounds all wet, like 100 yrs old, can still do jumping side kicks 2 feet above my head!! Im in aweeee!) for years now. While forms are part of the curriculum, sparring, techniques and actual practice make up most of the classes.
This school is affiliated with the WTF (only tkd assiociation able to compete in the olympics), maybe thats why there's more emphasis on actual effectiveness of the practices!!
I agree...too many people bash TKD when either they have not studied, not studied it long enough or or most likely trained at some belt factory. I studied under one of the old Grand Masters from S. Korea myself Grand Master Chae T. Goh who just got his 9th Dan. People don't realize that a student is only as good as his/her instructor. most also do not realize that all a black belt means is that you have mastered the basics of the art. A 1st Dan is to a 2nd Dan what a white belt is to a black belt...
