does anybody know anything about the master cleanser diet which is a fast which only allows lemon juice, cayenne pepper and mapple syrup with water

Muscle loss is not an issue considering i have more than enough and i gain it easy

does this or other fasts really help you clean out the body?

yes I have done my readings on it. it is a sort of detox for the body to remove built up toxins, etc.

I know a bunch of girls that i work wit that have done it. They said that they felt great after doing it. It is not a diet though. They gained whatever weight they lost right back. Like Jen said, it is a fast to cleanse the body.

exactly. its not for fat loss really. it cleans out the body-by enhancing normal bodily function which in turn once you go back to eating will aid in better nutrient absorption and digestion. its smoething to be followed VERY short term..

:shake: I think I'd die if I ever tried fasting.

Greeky - there are other detox programs out there that do not require fasting :) I do a detox (liver, colon etc.) twice a year and that's without fasting.

what type of detox were you doing Jodi?

I just read your post where the Master Cleanser is not for weight loss and all of the weight comes back as soon as you start taking in real food again.

Just wondering, though...I am getting ready to start the Master Cleanser for 10 days on Thursday (trying to finish up final exams right now). I have read that this fast cleanses your system and DOES NOT make you feel tired. In fact, I have read that people have more energy on this fast and feel great afterwards.

So, here is my question. I was planning on doing the fast for 10 days to clean out my system and then after that incorporate more fresh fruits and veggies in my diet and get rid of "faux food" - food with chemicals, additives, etc. in them.

I also wanted to start an exercise program while on the 10 day fast, since I read most people experience more energy than they normally have.

So, would it be safe to assume that I would keep off some of the weight if I exercised pretty hard during the fast? I want to try to sweat out some of the toxins that I know are living in my body.

Thanks for any advice,

Jennifer

10 days!!!!!!!!! Are you sure you want to do that, that's an awful long time without any real food, I wouldn't recommend going over 2-3 days and even then I'd starve! Be Careful hun :)

But, to answer your question, if you were exercising I'm sure that some of the weight would stay off but your body could not possibly build muscle on a fast therefore the majority of your loss would be water weight. I'd also be concerned with what this would do to your metabolism. I don't know though, I've never fasted, but that's just my two cents worth!!

Good Luck :thumb:

starting to exercise while on a fast is a very bad thing. when you first start to exercise serum cortisol levels are elevated for the first 2 weeks. your body needs an excess of nutrients during that period or you will lose LBM...

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
and i hate to think what it will do to your metabolism. :shake:

Thanks, all!

In response to the 10 day duration...the Master Cleanser book states that a minimum of 10 days is needed to properly cleanse the system. Once I am on it, if I feel bad in any way, I will get off of it immediately.

Thanks, also, for the advice on exercise during fasting. I think I will wait to start my exercise program until after the fast once I have reintroduced food into my system.

Thanks again,

Jennifer

i'd say no food for 10 days will pretty much guarantee you feeling bad

i'm actually on the master cleanser diet right now. so far it hasn't been horrible except for yesterday when i had a major headache from caffeine withdrawl (its gone today). i've heard many good things about this diet and have purchased the book (small, cheap 50 page to the point book). the "eliminations" as they call it have not been bad. i drink a laxative tea at night and then in the morning i do my thing. this is essential because the lemon mix that you drink throughout the day doesn't have any fiber in it, so in order to get rid of all the stuff inside that is being cleansed, you need a little help. i haven't felt hungry to my stomach since i've started, its just wierd not being able to eat and i realize how much i enjoy just the process of making food and eating it, but otherwise i have energy and i feel satisfied nutrition wise. i hope to stay on this for recommended min time of 10 days, but we'll see how i feel by day 7.

i think exercising is safe while you're on it, i did a 20 min jumprope session yesterday and today i plan to go bike riding. although i wouldn't recommend starting out really hard if one hasn't been exercise for a while, you might have more energy, but your body isn't used to strenuous exercise. you can still get a good sweat without going overboard.

oh ya, i forgot to mention, i'm on day 3

oh and the whole thing about your metabolism, the fresh lemon and maple syrup provide ample nutrients and calories so your body won't feel deprived. even though the maple syrup (class B) contains sugar, it contains unrefined sugar which is a million times better for your body. and the whole purpose of the diet is of course cleansing, but if you are really serious you will start eating healthier after the diet or else all that time cleansing will probably be an ultimate waste. i hope i can succeed in that.

Keep us posted farse!

Jodi, can you send me info on the detox you do? Thanks hon!

I guess we're all different but my metabolism would come to a screetching halt if I went on this type of fast for 10 days.

Glad you're feeling ok though

Your name is perfect for making a statement such as this.

 TP always cracks me up.

Maybe I'm being too basic, but wouldnt eating extemely healthy be the best way to cleanse your system, including lots of fiber and veggies?

How can I find out more about this Master Cleanser Diet?

What are the proportions for each ingredient in the drink? How many times per day do you drink it? Are you allowed ANY food?
