hey, i need a bit of help.

Currently my metabolism is into starvation mode. I need to know a few ways to increase what i eat *i eat far to little right now, twice a day if i force myself*, without increasing body mass. My whole plan is the lose weight not gain weight. I don't quite yet have time for a rigerous exercize schedule, though i will in the future. At the moment i just need to figure out how to get my body back under my control.

Any advice on small meals, or things i can eat that arn't bad for me, but will help my metabolism start to move forward again. Meal supliments or what not, anything to help me increase my waning apetite, and get my body moving the way it should be.

Thanks in advance..

are you saying that you currently only eat 2x a day ?

pick up some whey protein powder if you have trouble eating, and mix in some strawberries and drink it in the morning.

If you think your body has slowed down due to too little calories and too little exercise then you just need to work on increasing your calories slowly and sensibly (this is best done WITH increases in your daily activities as well - because half the reason why your metabolism has slowed down may well just be due to inactivity) to try to get things back to normal.

So it just comes down to the basics first.

Slowly start to add in food - but if you can't handle food then liquids would be a good start. Just try to make them well balanced - rich in proteins, fats and carbs - so if you had a shake an example would be to add skim milk, blueberries, protein powder and some peanut butter.

Try to slowly work yourself up from 2 meals and a shake or two, to at least 4 'meals' a day, and aim to focus on the food options which will help to maximise yoir health - such as lots of vegetables, legumes, grains, fruits, lean proteins, nuts, seeds and skim dairy.

In terms of stimulating your appetite - there is a thread here that might be helpful.... But you will find that once your metabolism starts to 'fire' again you should become more hungry (and, if you start to exercise you should REALLY start to get hungry - this is one of the best things you can do to make yourself hungry!).

If you want a little more info then there is a post on metabolism here and a post on starting out eating and working out correctly here that you might want to read....

This is great advice but I have to ask...are you currently underweight or overweight? The only reason I ask is because if you say your body is in starvation mode it sounds like you have been reducing calories for some time...and you do need to increase your calories to at least maintinence levels for a while. Also, if you are underweight already you may have an eating disorder and should definitely see a doctor or therapist.

I'm overweight, and i typically eat once a day. The reason i went into starvation mode was just the lifestyle i was living for a while wasn't healthy, due to work and the type of work i did. Now that i've finally got that fixed i need to focus on my health before it becomes more serious of a problem then it already is. Thanks alot for all the advice you guys *and girl* have given so far. It's tremendously helpful
