Meal frequency has very little effect on metabolic rate.

I train in the evening most of the time(around 6ish) and I like to eat a greater majority of my calories after this time, so I setup my diet accordingly.

Describe why you feel your metabolism needs boosting. Are you getting fat?

I train in the evening also, and do eat more calories in a shorter period of time as well, due to the excellent muscle tears that I have caused. I up my proteins as well as fats....and MAYBE a few extra carbs post workout. I never mix carbs and proteins UNLESS I add some fat in there so my insulin levels do not jump (which may lead to fat gain).

I am currently carb cycling, have a carb up every 4th day to keep my body honest (1 to 2 meals of more carbs than I would usually have). These meals are usually a bowl of Oatmeal (carbs) with some natural peanut butter (fat), and the second meal is usually my "cheat meal" for the week (cheese pizza)- to keep me sane for a week :)

Not quite true, but I'm the first to admit it's a MUCH easier way to manage appetite!

You rehabbing those muscle-tears?

That's a free day, not quite the same as a carbup, but if it's working for you, don't mess with it! :)

well i got out of the military and i have a 42 inch chest and big shoulders and my body is very defined except for my stomach. im sitting at about 13 % bf right now and i keep a relatively clean diet i eat every 2.5 to 3 hours and as much and as hard as i train i have never edged the fat off of my obliques or abs. btw a body builder told me to up my protein intake to 80 grams per me to boost my fat cutting or to take fish oil ever heard of any of this?

Up your protein TO 80 grams? Where is it at now? Geez If its below 80 now youre getting a ton of calories from carbs and fats.

its about 50 grams a meal on average right now. so what should my ratio be for protein carbs and fats? i eat a shit load of tuna and chicken right now. isnt 80 grams a bit extreme?

So you're getting 50g of protein per meal. You had a typo' before that confused everyone. If you're not losing weight, you have too many kcals in vs kcals out. Can you list everything that you eat in diary format with times, amounts etc? Be as accurate as you can and include all supps. We have no info' to go on.

Increasing protein will increase calories. To lose fat you need to DECREASE calories.

Your problem is neither your metabolism nor your training - you are simply eating too much food to lean out.

Figure out how many calories you're eating now, then drop that by 20%.

Oh - and the fish oil is indeed good for you. I take 10 grams (10 capsules) daily. I count this as 90 calories toward my daily total.
