Do any of yalls stomach hurt when you use milk with your protein powder? Mine does but I want the weight so I guess I need to mix it in water..

none here.....I love milk....i used to go through a gallon every two days....but not since ive been coming to these forums!

No nothing wrong with it but I guess Im lactose intolerent. Which I sound like a wuss but I fixed glass this morning to take to work and when I drink it, it wasnt and hour and I was heading to the bath room.

yeah I guess that is what I have to buy because I need all the calories i can get to gain weight..

Try cream.. it has no lactose, it can help determine if you have a lactose intolerance or an overall dairy intolerance or allergy. Try taking lactaid too, and if one isn't enough try taking two.

So you are saying that you used to drink 8 cups of milk a day, but after you started coming to this forum you are suddenly lactose intolerant?:finger:

WHAT ABOUT THE 12 GRAMS OF CARBS PER 8OZ ? ALL SUGAR !! I ALSO USE TO DRINK ABOUT 2 GALLONS OF FF MILK A WEEK. I WAS GETTING ABOUT 60 GRAMS OF CARBS A DAY JUST FROM MILK. I'M SURE A GLASS OR 2 A DAY IS O.K. BUT I WOULD JUST AS SOON STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING WITH THAT MUCH SUGAR IN IT. MAYBE AFTER THE SUMMER WHEN I START INCREASING CALORIES AGAIN I WILL ADD MILK TO MY DIET .

If it fits in your daily calorie goals than its fine. Another alternative is Atkins fat free milk. It has almost no carbs ( artificially sweetened) and 12g protein/cup.

The Atkins Carb Solutions stuff taste like crap. The sugar in milk is good for you. Lactose is half glucose and half galactose. Glucose provides energy fast and galactose burns real slow. So it provides immediate energy when you need it. It is low-glycemic, and calcium with lactose helps prevent fat storage. Milk is perfect if you don't have a lactose problem.

A GOOD AND A BAD SUGAR, I'LL HAVE TO READ UP ON THAT ONE, THX FOR THE INFO. .

Hood carb counting chocolate milk is incredible. 12g protein per 8oz and only 3 carb 2 sugar 1 fiber. Did i mention its incredible. Its so smooth :nanner:

I like the carb countdown milk ok but it's too expensive for me to use all of it for drinking by itself so I usually mix half regular skim and half carb countdown.

Lactose is a disaccharide, meaning that it is made of two monosaccharides bonded together. Both Glugose and Galactose, the two monosaccharides in milk, are good for you. The only time to aviod them is if you are doing a low carb diet. Otherwise, 2-4 servings of dairy is optimal. I average 4-5

MMM, milk it does a body good, just look at Tyra

Is it whole milk what you are drinking? I???m asking because when I drink whole milk it keeps me going to the bathroom all day. So what I did was try the 2% milk and guess what, problem fixed. I drink 16oz of milk three times a day with my protein powder.

yup, the only milk I drink anymore, white 2% and chocolate. :lick:

Yeah it was whole milk..Im going to try 2% and see if that solves the problem, if it dont then I will guess take calcium pills....But thank you all for your help..

Is there any reason you guys prefer 2% over homo milk? (Other then reduced bathroom runs--no pun intended)

I heard before that your body needs fat to absorb calcium, so drinking skim milk basically won't allow you to absorb any of the calcium.
I don't believe it but i registered dietician told me that, did anyone else ever hear something like that?

I think it's funny when people say hood's carb countdown milk taste good

One thing you should take with a grain of salt is taste opinions of those that have been in clean diets for awhile.

I had the chocolate milk...bought a carton to try it. I for one still remember what chocolate milk tastes like, and it doesn't even come close to tasting like milk...let alone chocolate milk.

Of course, when you're deprived of such things, after a couple of servings, it's like having the real thing and you don't even notice (or care about) the difference and end up loving it....but hey.

I stopped buying it cause it's too expensive, plus if I'm going to drink milk, I need the carbs. Protein I have no problems getting from other sources. Getting enough carbs from good sources and keeping my portion sizes small is a bigger problem.

EVEN IF THAT'S TRUE, YOU DON'T WANT THE FAT THAT'S IN DAIRY. WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ARE POLY AND MONOUNSATURATED FATS.

ok, what the differents between saturated, poly and monounsaturated fats anyways?

I WILL TRY TO MAKE THIS SHORT AND SWEET..UNSATURATED FATTY ACIDS (POLY AND MONO) MAKE IT EASIER FOR OXYGEN TO BE TRANSPORTED BY THE BLOODSTREAM TO THE CELLS, TISSUES AND ORGANS.THEY CONTAIN THE 3 ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS, LINOLEIC, ARACHIDONIC, AND LINOLENIC, ESSENTIAL BECAUSE THE BODY CAN'T PORODUCE THEM.. WE COULD FILL A BOOK ON THE BENEFITS OF THESE FATTY ACIDS. ON THE OTHER HAND THE BODY CAN PRODUCE SATURATED FATS, AND ALTHOUGH SATURATED FATS ARE NEEDED ALSO, CONSUMING TO MUCH WILL CAUSE CELL MEMBRANES TO BECOME TO RIGID. IN THIS RIGID STATE, THE BODY HAS TO PUMP OUT MORE INSULIN TO BRING DOWN BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS. WHICH CAN LEAD TO INSULIN RESISTANCE.

ok thanks, i always thought all fat was bad, so i'd only eat fat free foods.
