Morning workout question

Hey all...

It's been over a year since I've lifted and I wanted to start up again this coming Monday. Instead of working out in the late evening after work, I decided to do my workout at around 4:00 - 4:30 am to avoid the crowd.

Is there anything specific I should eat in the morning prior to lifting? I would feel better with a meal to prevent me from getting dizzy and passing out rather than just a shake.

I plan to workout Mon, Wed, and Fri doing weights, and Tue, Th, Sat with cardio, all in the AM. I'm currently 5'10" and weigh 170lbs. My body fat is around 14% since last getting checked a month about by a trainer. My goal is to mainly lean out at this point and lose body fat.

Any advice?

How long before you train will you eat?
 
i workout early morning at 6, and i used to take no xplode just to wake me up. its recommended to take on empty stomach, so i dont eat anything before gym time. since being off it, i still go early on a empty stomach, and occasionally sip on a protein shake during the workout, with a post shake after.

Specific? No.

Things that come to mind are a shake with skim milk, egg whites and toast or oats.

Id stick with something low fat at that time unless you want to get up earlier to eat...I find that eating fats within 30m of working out makes me nauseous as hell.

Thx. I was thinking of doing a shake and eating some oatmeal before training as well.
 
I'm up at 4am and have 40g of oats made with water and 4 egg whites(scrambled). sometimes I have 1 yoke with thhe whites.
I'm in the gym at 5am. I've been doing this for about 6 months and find I have the energy to lift with a meal in me.
