I ve been workingout over 4 months. 5'8" 165lbs currently. Doing M-Chest, W-Biceps/Triceps, F-Shoulders/Back. T/TH-Cardio. Chest gain is around 1 inch, while bicepts/tricepts gain is < 1 inch. I get 100gm of protien from shake/bar and the rest from food (total=200gm) I am not looking to be arnold type, but just wanna get a bit bigger/muscular. Can you guys comment what am I doing wrong here? What time frame targests do you guys set around and go about achieving it?
Thanx again.

I said program is fine as a certified guy has made that up. Now I know you might not agree with the prgm, but I guess different people might fit in different programs.

No I didnt. The person who made the prgm did include working the legs, it was the "uneducated" me that made the descision to take out weights and legs. Now I know my mistake. Thanks :rocker:

Changing your program is a way to shock your body. Your body adapts to a program every couple months. When it adapts it makes it harder to gain muscle. You have to change your program to keep your body guessing. Post your training program, you never know if someone knows what there talking about or not.

You don't necessarily have to cut out your cardio. I would just limit your session to 20 minutes or less to reduce the chance of your body turning to muscle for an energy source. I typically do cardio 1-3 days a week year round, but I usually make the sessions in the 15-20 minute range at a higher level of intensity.

Training your legs is very important. If you don't train your legs, then you're missing out on the massive release of HGH (Human Growth Hormone) that the core lifts like squats and deadlifts can stimulate.

Eating food is paramount. If you are not eating in a caloric excess, then your body does not have the extra energy and "materials" to devote to building muscle. It has to use all it's resources just to keep you going throughout the day.

How is it wrong? I've proved it to myself many times over. I occasionally make small changes to my program, but to say every couple weeks is crazy.

Some people change their program every 4, or 12 weeks - but every couple? Never heard of it myself.

Increased CALORIC intake = increased size. Quality of the food, and controlling total calories helps determine where that size goes.

As long as your are progressing in terms of resistance, your body will not be able to fully adapt. For example, Duncans Donuts typically maintains the same routine for months at a time. The reason he continues to get bigger and stronger is because of progressive resistance.

wow i learned something new today didnt know working your legs helped your upper body grow, im glad i read this thread im gona hit my legs alot harder

I agree 100% that comment. I had to stop doing legs for a while, don't get me wrong I excel in legs but they seem to outgrow all of my body parts.
The funny thing is when I stopped doing legs I also felt like I stopped growing, my lifts just stagnated.
Long story short, I started doing legs (Squats, leg press) again and now it's crazy the way I am growing.
I also noticed it increased my sex drive.....strange isn't it.

Indeed, I did that for a long time, but now I'm adjusting nearly everything every 3-4 weeks while maintaining HIT - just not consolidated HIT (ala Mike Mentzer). In fact, I occasionally incorporate greater volume (greater by my standards), frequency, intensity, etc. - I now more capably understand CNS function and how to dodge "negative" effects of it, and have since been able to progress hypertrophy-wise wherein before I had stagnated for a while.

Sadly, my equation of progressive overload = size + progress was only partially accurate, and as all intelligent people should do, when my understanding evolved so did my application of it..
