My endocrinologist told me that for a 160-200 lb male, every 5mg/day you produce equals t levels of around 300ng/dl. I am pressure sure he was referring to morning levels only. So for an average sized person, the expectation would be 5-20 mg a day. Levels on average are closer to 500 now in an adult so my best guess is that an average person would be producing around 7mg/day.
As far as how much someone can produce...I have no idea. I doubt more than 15mg/day in 90% of the population but some have probably gotten around the 20 mark.
