I'm enrolled back in school now. My job comes with a lot of down time, so I'm going to use it wisely and hop into some online classes, to get started.

These are some of the things I have in mind:

-Sports Medicine
-Physical Therapy
-Massage Therapy(most likely)

Anyone have any experience in one of these fields?
Or have any good suggestions?

Choose one that has a good outlook in the occupational outlook handbook. Two of the most important things are money and job availability. If there are few jobs available in the field, you may not get to use your education. My first two career choices had poor outlooks and it was very difficult to find a job unless I was willing to work and live in very unfavorable places. Money is always important. I have three degrees and make less than many with a HS diploma only. Don't make my mistakes!

Out of high school I wanted physical therapy. I was told getting in was harder than med school. If I were choosing from your three and the outlook was good, I'd go with sports medicine.

I'm definitely keeping that in mind.
Whoever said money isn't everything must not have a family to provide for :coffee:

I'm leaning greatly towards therapy of some kind. I really like helping people.

I'm getting my career and finances in order before I start a family. Things don't always go as planned though I suppose.

I'd do what was recommended and look at the potential your career has to offer you.

I think you would be good at massage therapy. Youre strong and fit, perfect for giving older men handjobs.

I graduate the Fire Fighter Academy, but that field has been ran in the ground....at least around here, and I wasn't set on moving out of state when I completed that.

Wife said I should do massage therapy, like I talked about 6 years ago. Can't believe its been that long, or that she remembers that.

Physical Therapy is the shit.. EASY and good money

Definitely a good idea. For me, it was my immaturity that bit me in the ass. When my wife got pregnant, I had a great paying job with my father-in-law, but I still had that "I know it all" mentality, made some stupid choices, and now I'm playing catch up. You live and you learn. My wife and kid are taken care of though, and that's all that matters.

go on.....

Ben I think I'd go for Sports Medicine and Massage Therapy. I think the two could go hand in hand. I'm sure sports med interestes you so that's a good one. Massage could be a really good compliment. I believe in massage- it has really helped work out some really bad psyatic nerve probs, etc like nothing else could. Because of the fact that you are a bodybuilder lends credibility to you as you know how the body and muscles work.

I like the way you think, BigMike.
I think being an avid weight lifter would lend credibility to myself. Maybe I could open my own practice, and get a lot of local bodybuilders to come through. Kind of like them supporting one of their own.

I will target the older ladies too ;)

PT would suck. 4 years of school and then another 2 to get certified i believe? My buddy went that route while he played baseball for the school. Ended declining a draft for some reason and now he can't find a good job.

Ha- good luck with the 'ol ladies. To illustrate my point, 3 years ago I had MAJOR psiatic nerve probs, etc.. I was hardly able to walk or get in and out of a car. I had been on pain meds, went to two chiropractors and some kind of massage therapist. Then I learned that Matt Mendenhall (not sure if you are too young to know who that is) did massage work and I called him. It was not a cheap massage but I'll tell you he knew what to do; it was one of the most painful massages I'd had and almost could not take it however I left his office feeling 50 percent better. I went again several days later and was at 80% then again- back to 100%. This is after spending WEEKS in horrible pain where others could not help. So... do the massage therapy thing man- you will give credibility others don't have and you will have a very good client base after some time. Good luck!

That is awesome. Bettering your self is always a good thing. I'm not sure if I could do massage, you can't pick and choose your clients, EWWWWW

I know who Mendenhall is. That's badass.
That's how I want to be.
Massage Therapy for bodybuilders.

hahaha, I think girls would be more grossed out than guys. My friends Mom said the same thing LOL. Just going to have to suck it up.

I'll open my own practice, and have a shower room in the building, and make showers beforehand a mandatory thing lol

My sports medicine doctor went to school a very long time. I know out here massage therapy is a 1year program and good money.
