Hi all.. i'm new here, so I don't really know if i'm about to get flamed out or what.. but here goes ;)

I use a Bowflex Pro, started working out a few months ago (seriously working out).. I do a 4 day-a-week workout..
spead it out like this:
day 1 & 3: Chest, Arms, Upper back, Shoulders
day 2 & 4: Abs, lower back, legs (hope i didn't miss anything)

I work mon-friday early mornings and forced to workout after work (i try to save my energy, but at times that's really to do)..

I also want to start eating right (need some recipes maybe if you guys/gals can help).. and need to know what to eat/drink before and/or after the workout.. and also anything that would help me while i'm at work all day..

Sooo, anything you have for the new guy would be appriciated! :D

Thanks in advance!

Welcome!

I do not know much about the Bowflex, so cannot really help you there. Since that is all you're training with, I assume that your goal is just conditioning and "general fitness"?

Diet is definitely the key, as I always say, it's about 75% diet & 25% training whether you're trying to lose weight, or bodybuild.

As far as pre-work-out, carbs (mainly simple) are most important for quick energy (IMO), post work-out protein and complex carbs are very important.

What are you eating now? Are you planning on lifting weights?

Thank you Prince. By the way, I found your site from the HR forums ;)

And Yes, I am trying to loose weight and body build at the same time..
I don't have a diet right now, and by "lifting weights" do you mean other than bowflex?

Thanks

Thanks

I think by lifting he means "whatever you've got." Bowflex has been around for a long time and while I'm sure it has it's critics, I don't recall ever reading anything bad about it. Just be sure the tension stays consistent and doesn't loosen over time.

WELCOME.

There was an atricle in either Men's Health or Men's Fitness a few months ago (I think it was Men's Fitness). They rated the Bowflex vs the Soloflex. Both got good reviews.

Welcoem to IronMag, Dim!!

Thank you all..
So far i'm loving the Bowflex..

I just bought a straight bar attachment for it, and I lift every other day (or I try to).. or atleast 3 days a week..
I'm not sure how to split up my routing.. 3 days a week would fit great into my schedule, but I don't feel it's enough..

I want to do 4 days a week, but I really don't know how to split it up because I usually go out and fridays..

And i'm sorry THE_GAME, the HR Forums is I assume where Prince hosts this website.. and so do I with mine

so what's yours?

Three days a week is enough to get a good workout Dim. Most people do 3 or 4 days.

Seems like a lot of work for the day 1&3, what are you doing for these exercises? (I'm not familiar w/ what a blowflex offers in terms of exercises).

Also, when I work, I end up cooking whackloads of chicken and rice and various other things on the weekend. Then it's all ready for me when I go to work, it lasts all week and I don't have to cook throughout the week. Just bring it in a tupperware container.

Are you eating several times throughout the day or just breakfast lunch & dinner?

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
w8lifter,

I can't name the exercises that I do on days 1 & 3, but it's one of the routies in the bowflex booklet.. although I add 1 or 2 of my own sets in there as well.. I do atleast 3 different exercises for each body part..

I usually just have a cut of coffee for breakfast, then eat a lunch and dinner (at around 7pm).. and usually have a fruit before sleep..

And i'm still looking for a proper diet.. something that would be easy to cook and not hard to find.. (chicken+rice = good idea)

Well, a bb diet is pretty easy to do and find since it's rather repetitive at times.

It's really best to eat smaller meals more frequently, rather than have three large meals a day, or in your case only two. It keeps your metabolism high and there's less chance that your body will turn to your hard earned muscles for nourishment. You tend to eat less (no binging) when you eat more frequently too.

Don't skip breakfast!!! After not eating for 8 hours over the night, your body needs food. There's no point to lifting w8's if you don't feed your muscles.

Try to get some protein w/ every meal and focus the majority of your carbs on complex carbs. Watch your sugar intake. Don't forget about your good fats too. Some good food to eat:

chicken/turkey breast
tuna
egg whites
whey protein shakes
ff cottage cheese
oats
sweet potatos
brown rice
almonds
natural peanut butter

Do a search for recipes, there's been quite a few good ones posted. :)
