New years resolutions: How crowded is your gym now?

Last week I had to do my deadlifts in the middle of the gym floor by the benches because some turd was doing upright rows and curls in the squat rack...

I must be missing something crucial. Why do you do Deads in a squat rack?

I knew someone was gonna say that...

It's the only space where there is enough room, the gym is pretty crowded... there aren't any places open enough to do them other than that. I do them in front of the rack, not in it.

Only thing I can think of is rack pulls? That's where I do mine. Another trick I used once upon a time, which makes it tons easier to load the weight on the bar is to use the lowest rung on the squat rack and just bring in a small platform to make up the difference.

Edit:

Oh. :D

Last week I had to do my deadlifts in the middle of the gym floor by the benches because some turd was doing upright rows and curls in the squat rack... that shit is so annoying to me... and what the hell is the fascination with the cable machines? There is always a line of people waiting to do cable crossovers and tricep pressdowns

That's astonishingly well-managed in my gym. If you're doing squats in the squat rack, all right. If you start biceps curls or something like that in the squat rack, you can bet your ass that someone will give you a shout within 10 seconds.

Just curious...if you wanted to do Barbell Curls, where would you do them? At the Bench area?

Oh and it seems the resolutionists are gone already here.

In my gym, there's a specific area for isolation exercises.

I noticed a few extra people at home, and here in cardiff as well.

Its just the usual stuff, they walk in with their eyes wide like lost sheep, jump out of their skins when somebody drops the dumbells, and act the like the mirror contains the meaning of life.

There was the guy the other day who did 10 sets of concentration curls, 10 sets of standing hammer curls, and 10 sets of seated hammer curls though. That was pretty funny.

I dont know whats up. But it really doesnt seem as bad as last year. I dunno if im going at the wrong time of day for them, but maybe theyve FINALLY given up for good?

30 sets of biceps is just ridiculous.

Seriously, i have no idea what they expect to see in that mirror. It doesnt matter how much you pose, those 9" guns are still gonna look flabby.

I think Kelju is right, the mirror must emit some sort of newbietizing psychic power that people of a certain experience have learned to resist.

The 30 set curl guy was a mirror guy. The last like, 6 sets were painful to watch - no form that i could see. The saddest part was that when he was done i saw him take the dumbells back to the rack, and it was like a frail old woman carrying shopping bags. He could hardly control that much weight, let alone curl it properly.

Horray for gymdiots.

I just noticed the New Years influx of people just this week at our gym...

But,,, they'll be gone in a month.. lol

Some guy used the incline bench barbell as a coat and hat rack today. If he was using that piece of equipment, fair enough, but he wasn't. He looked busy doing curls with the 30 lb DB's so I didn't dare bother him.

Also, some guy used the squat rack to curl a 45 lb barbell with 2.5 plates on each side. :funny: What a tool.

It's been getting more & more crowded each week as the weather gets colder. Boredom or winter time cabin fever setting in I suppose.
I don't mind the high school types coming in but is it really neccessary that three of them have to sit on the surrounding equipment watching the fourth do a 40 lb bench press?
