Now this is what I call strength! Must see video!

I make fun of PL a lot, but this guy was impressive. His quickness was just as impressive as his strength.

His moves were so fast you don't even some of them...all of the sudden the bar is up in the...BAM!

I like how he rests the BB on his delts and walks it back to the rack:eek:

And he's only 175!

I didn't know that (even more impressive)...It was hard for me to hear the video b/c of the weights slamming and clanking:pissed:

Patrick posted some Dimas I think.

that wasn't powerlifting, it was olympic aka weightlifting. those guys are pound for pound the strongest/fastest raw lifters around.

yea, that is dimas. I posted that awhile ago. defenitly one of the greatest lifters of all time.

He is just warming up here and stretching as the clip was shot 3 days before the national championships. The funny thing is that he is just power snatching (not even squat snatching) and he is doing more then any american has ever done at that body weight! The dude is truely impressive. Still though, if you want to see someone that moves even faster try and find clips of Halil Mutlu from turkey. No one moves faster than that guy. Blinding speed.

And, that wasn't powerlifting. It was olympic lifting (or weightlifting as it is called over seas).

Is that the 3x body weight snatch guy?

yea....he is a 52kg lifter from turkey. Short as hell. Just insanely fast! Naim Suleymanoglu is one of my all time favs also. he is quick. he is a 62kg lifter from turkey.

Invanry- why do you make fun of powerlifters?

P-funk for mod!!

I am a mod....lol.

I hate when people say that bull shit about powerlifters......I especially hate it when it comes from bodybuilders or people that are 150lb wanna be bodybuilders. The super heavy weights are the only guys that are really sloppy but ya know what.....they are the ones putting up the big numbers. It is the same in olympic lifting too. The super heavy weights are big friggin' dudes adn some are sloppy. Why make fun of them though? because they compete in a real sport? Because their meets actually have something to do with athletcis? because they don't care about how they look or being pretty boys and instead are worried more about optimal performance come contest? Any one can diet down....not everyone can be strong.

I hope you caught my "stupid-humor"

Most of the "fat" guys in gyms that call themselves powerlifters, are wishfull thinkers full of copouts!

Ask them howcome they weigh 290 and bench press 335. :hehe:

Yeah I crack on their pot bellies...how the back is arched so much during the bench w/ a weight belt w/ a fat belly:laugh: They only have to drop the BB 4in before it touches their sternum.

It is a constant battle in my gym. PL crack on us BBs too for "prancing around in our underwear"

underneath everything though is respect....Just don't make a crack on someone until people know you...and don't go overboard w/ it.:thumb:

I've seen this before, but it's an awesome video nonetheless. This guy is definitely a great example of power.

Dammmmnnnn. I have heard a little about him before, Pyrros Dimas is his name, right? That is truly more impressive than any powerlifting or any bodybuilding competition stuff. Unbelievable.

Not to take anything away from Ronnie Coleman(very strong as well) and his video the unbelievable, but just watching a guy that is a buck 75 sling around 400 lbs is even more phenomenal.

Any more info on this guy P- Funk? Does he compete still or is he in the olympics anymore or what?

Dimas is a little heavier than 175. He is an 85kg lifter (187- 202lbs).

Dimas competed at the last olympics in greece (his home country). He took home a bronze medal with a 469lb clean and jerk (which I posted in the olympic lifting thread). He used to have the world recod but has since been broken. He was originally retired after a bunch of injuries and surgeries (one on each shoulder and something with the leg I believe). he decided to train and come out of retirment for this past olympic games since they were in greece (his home) and he wanted to have the oppurtunity to compete infront of the home crowd.

I think I remember that. He was the guy that is like a freaking hero to everyone in Greece right? They love that guy.

yes, he has done some amazing things over his career. I believe he is in his early 30s now. Not a bad age to retire at!!

Couldn't agree more. :thumb:

I had to bump this. This is soooo inspiring. I love watching him lift. Most of those were power snatches and cleans right? Sometimes on the second rep he'd do a squat snatch or clean?

It doesn't even look like he's shrugging or raising up on his toes too much but the weight just flies up there!

yes, you are correct. it is a lot of power snatches. He is just training light since he is a day or two out from the world championships in that video.

he is shrugging really hard. Like I said, you don't jump up, you jump down! His toes extened really quick and then move out and adjust for the catch. he is super super fast. he is really effecient with his movement....more so then a lot of people. The guy that used to coach me could pick out a lot of technique flaws that he has but he said that his speed makes up for technique errors. he is just so fast at adjusting that it doesn;t matter. Defenitly one of my favorties. Check out Naim Suleymanoglu of turkey. He is probably my fav.

i once lifted a clydsdale with my penis,,now thats strength
