Judge said he'd spend at least 40 years behind bars. The father said he can't imagine any parole board ever releasing the killer.

Dahmer murdered 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991, with the majority of the murders occurring between 1987 and 1991. His murders involved rape, dismemberment, necrophilia and cannibalism. On November 28, 1994, he was beaten to death by an inmate at the Columbia Correctional Institution, where he had been incarcerated.

Dahmer was attacked twice in prison, the first time in July 1994. An inmate attempted to slash Dahmer's throat with a razor blade while Dahmer was returning to his cell from a church service in the prison chapel. Dahmer escaped the incident with superficial wounds.[SUP][51][/SUP] While doing janitorial work in the prison gym, Dahmer and another inmate, Jesse Anderson, were severely beaten by fellow inmate Christopher Scarver with a broomstick handle on November 28, 1994.[SUP][52][/SUP] Dahmer died of severe head trauma while on his way to the hospital in an ambulance.

It's a bit sad to see so many people pretending like this guy will receive his comeuppance in prison, as if we live in some domain of karma-driven equity. The fact of the matter is this killer probably won't see a full day in general population. Jeffrey Dahmer's death was an anomaly, and while drug dealers and gang members die every day in prisons all across the country, they don't receive media attention. This guy absolutely would, so as in most cases of highly publicized crime, the prison will go the extra mile to protect the offender. No warden wants his institution associated with violent inmate deaths, so they'll do whatever they can to avoid becoming the top story on any news broadcast.

The bottom line is, you can all pretend this guy is just going to live a life of shanks and hourly ass rapings, but that probably won't happen. Sorry, life ain't fair.

Anybody see the movie, "The One" or something like that with Jet Li? The prison they transported all criminals to and let them do as they wish? Why can't we turn Alcatraz into a place just for criminals to live out their lives. No need for guards on the island, just let them kill each other.
