President Barack Obama unveiled a $3.8 trillion spending plan on Monday for 2013 that seeks to achieve $4 trillion in deficit reduction over the next decade but does little to restrain growth in the government's huge health benefit programs. (Feb. 13)

Let's see what happens in congress, I have a feeling republicans are going to fight tooth and nail against tax raises for the rich even with the deficit.

Why would the republicans fight? Harry Reid already stater the senate (democrats) have no intention of even looking at it.

We haven't had an actual budget yet under Obama and we never will.

\Even with tax raises on people or families making more than 250000 a year, wont put a dent in deficit...pissing in the wind..
I got an idea...stop fucking spending money you dont have

and there wasn't one under 8 years of GWB, were you bitching about it then?

from FY1986 to FY2010 there have been 17 omnibus spending measures passed..

I see, if it's a Republican running the country in to the ground it's fine but if it's a Dem it's bullshit. That makes perfect sense.

Republicans don't have a problem waisting a shit load of money. They would just rather the money be given to millionaires and multinational firms than poor Americans

Being that the millionaires are flipping the bill for the 50% of the "poor" Americans. Giving the money to millionaires? You mean giving them their own money back?

I don't remember republicans being the givers as well, liberals are the ones tossing free gifts all the time, paid for by the "millionaires".

Just remember, I don't remember the last time I "gave my fair share", only thing I can recall is I get a paycheck, and the government takes what they want.

Being that Obama has increased the deficit more than all former presidents combined, yes the blame goes to him, the man with the record clear cut and dry of running the country into the ground.

They aren't taking millionaires' money and giving it to the poor, they're taking millionaires' money and giving it to billionaires. That is the problem, you idiots think the $150 million they spend annually on welfare is crippling the nation while the $3.2billion they give companies like GE to ship jobs overseas is a smart business decision. Oh yeah, and that the people who make so little money they can't afford to pay taxes are dirtbag freeloaders while a company who makes $14.2 billion that pays no taxes is just playing within the rules.

Oh, you mean that NAFTA Clinton pushed through is the cause for all our jobs leaving the U.S.? I AGREE!! I recall Ross Perot saying if NAFTA passed we would hear a huge sucking sound from the jobs lost overseas. Clinton and the other Dems said nah, that won't happen. It will be a global economy and a good thing for the U.S. The problem is that other countries don't come anywhere near playing by the rules that the U.S. has to play by when it comes to business.

I can't figure out why people don't see that Obama just isn't getting the job done. His promise of raising the minimum wage never happened. He hasn't closed Gitmo. His stimulous package was a complete joke and did nothing to create sustainable jobs. And people think he's doing great...I think they must have bumped their fucking heads!!!

The corporate tax issue you bring up is definitely a problem and as long as politicians are bought and sold by them, that will never change. As for welfare, I am not cool with people getting benefits past 99 weeks; call me an asshole, there are fucking limits here people. Realizing you aren't going to be getting a ticket on the gravy train forever is a strong motivator. Some people will never ever want to work, it isn't my problem nor should I support that person; those that did, lost their job and have to take one that may not be as good I feel sorry for but admire them for not being lazy either.

Being that the NA in NAFTA means North America, it hasn't had near the impact on jobs that China and India have had. In fact it has allowed many US citizens to go to work at high paying jobs in Canada and has allowed many Mexicans to make living wages in Mexico, who would otherwise have crossed the border and added to our Illegal Immigrant problem.

Our biggest problem is allowing a huge chunk of our manufacturing to be lost to China. At least the Obama administration is trying to do something about it, especially in my industry with the anti-dumping and countervailing duties investigation against Chinese PV Manufacturers. They were selling product at prices below what it costs to manufacture, mainly because the Chinese gov was heavily subsidizing them. It caused damage to American companies Solyndra is a good example. Hopefully more of these actions will convince American business that doing business with China is ultimately destroying our country...

He had good writers, but he didn't act according to the actions expoused in that sound bite.

Sounds about right for a former radio broadcaster, actor, and president of the Screen Actors Guild. :mooh:

Yes, your man Barry has been pretty chummy with GE's CEO over the last few years. He heads Barry's jobs council as he sends jobs to China. His company also earns billions in profit, yet somehow paid zero in federal corp taxes 2010 (and received bailout $ in '08). Even when they paid taxes in prior years, the effective rate was only around 15%.

"I am so proud and pleased that Jeff has agreed to chair this panel -- my Council on Jobs and Competitiveness -- because we think GE has something to teach businesses all across America," Obama told a crowd of GE workers Friday at a plant in Schenectady, New York.

by "We the people" he means lobbyists. Reagan used to talk out of both sides of his mouth. Promoting unions in other country's while smashing them here in the US.

people with no money have no power. you won't find any time or place in world history were any "people" have been empowered by a piece of paper, not related to currency. not quite sure why people believe such things when history tells us just about everything we need to know.

He gave us supply-side economics, what do you think I think of him?

Actually, for the most part I look positively on him wrt to his presidency. He raised taxes when needed, at least. Where we are now is more a product of him than any other president, though. Hell, even his own VP called it voodoo economics.

Here is the problem with that logic. For every $10,000 in taxes you pay, $48 goes to welfare. If they eradicated welfare, the average American would pay $48 less in taxes. Do you really think that welfare is a significant driver of your tax burden or our deficit? I'm not cool with people freeloading either, but I have less of an issue with people freeloading than I do with our elected officials giving taxbreaks to companies who don't need them that ship jobs overseas AND passing bloated military budgets that we don't need ($5,000 of that $10,000 tax burden goes to defense). Cutting welfare isn't going to do anything to my tax burden, so I currently vote for the party that most likely will. Neither will cut subsidies but at least the dems are trying to get rid of the ones to big oil. And I don't think we have to guess which party will cut that bloated military budget.

GE was paying Reagan 150K in the 50-60s as a paid spokesman. Once Reagan got his he forget all about where he came from, which was a poor family.

you see some similarities between conservatives on the far right that started out poor, got rich and then turn around and demonize the poor for being such. Newt is the same way, born to a single mother he grew up poor and through various channels eventually became wealthy. these guys are always comparing what "they" did to others, as if everyone is the same in terms of abilities and opportunities. they all show some obvious symptoms and signs of personality disorders as Newt is a sociopath for sure, he has all the classic traits.

1. imports from China go to Mexico for assemby

2. $90 billion in U.S. trade deficit dollars are sent to Mexico for assembly of the Chinese made parts

3. much of the U.S.$90 billion sent to Mexico is then sent to China to pay for these parts!

This is how china is a part of nafta :)
