I'm almost there...and it's SOOOOOOOOO hard.

I'm hoping by the end of June I will be able to do them no problems.

I also figured since I can do one-armed push ups, I should be able to do one armed pull-ups. Makes sense, yes no?

BTW...ya'll didn't think I'd be gone that long...did you?

Are you talking about a "true" one arm pull-up? Or, where you hold onto your wrist?

If you can do them, that is impressive! You should have someone take a picture.

I use to be able to do them when I was younger (and 30lb lighter), have to give it a try one day. Good luck to ya.

On the practical side of things, how often do we find ourselves in a situation that calls for the one arm pullup?

You pose a VERY good question, which is not limited to just the pullup. How often to you find yourself in a situation where you need to incline bench 250 lbs? Or perhaps squat 450? Most of us wouldn't. It's just something to strive to achieve.

Now in my case, since I rock climb, this ability to do a one armed pullup would come in VERY handy. Everyone of you should be able to sleep at night knowing you cant, or dont need to be able to do a one armed. I, on the other hand, cry myself to sleep every night I am unable to finish my pullup.

I doubt it'll work. At one time, I have friends that can do standard push ups with major ease but they hardly can do 2 pull ups. I think you are training different parts of your arms in this 2 exercise, thus it won't link nor cause any (much) effect. My advise for you is keep on training on standard pull ups, and by the time you can do 10-20 regular pull ups with ease, than it shouldn't be too hard doing it with single arm.

Oh I see, thanks for the correction. How about doing those 2 arm pullups, but making it some sorta position where it puts more pressure in your single arm? MAYBE that will be more effective

Actually, you're quite wrong. Let me explain.

I can do 20 pullups, no problem. I cant do a single one-armed pullup, I can come close, but no cigar.

An analogy: Take something you can lift 10-20 times, without much strain, and then double that. See what I'm saying? Better yet, take a curl bar, something you know you can do, and then use only one arm. That's what a one arm pullup is like, all awkward and whatnot.

Either way, I do appreciate your idea. I only wish it were that easy.
