my coach is online and i have nothing but positive things to say about him. what's funny about that? some of the best coaches in the business are strictly online.Stu said:you gotta be joking? you're not seriously gonna pay money for an online personal trainer?![]()
do your research, check credentials and the results of past clients if you can. open the lines of communication and ask whatever questions you may have beforehand. by far the best decision i have ever made in relation to training/diet.gonzo719 said:Has anybody here used Iron addict or Swolecat? if so = were you satisfeid with the results? exactly that.Stu said:I just fail to see how you can justifying paying for it. How can someone judge your workouts or motivate you from over the internet. Surely all they can do is advise on diet and maybe tweek your training according to the feedback you give them.
I give out advice and answer questions online, but creating a customized diet and training program for someone takes a lot of work, and I would not do it for free. Not to mention talking to them daily, tweaking the diet and training, creating new work-outs daily, etc.Well the way i see it is there are many experienced people online who will do that for you for free.

Dale Mabry said:I would use an online coach only if:
1)I were relatively knowledgeable.
2)I lived in a place where there were no live trainers.
3)It is substantially cheaper.
Diet is cut and dry, I would have no problem using someone online for that. Training is a little different. An online trainer can give you rep, rest, and set parameters and those are easy enough to follow. Online, you cannot have form critiqued and that is as important as the other parameters. I imagine that well over 75% of the people who read this site don't bench properly, even though the info is there. And that is for an exercise as common as the bench press.

P-funk said:If it was a complete newbie that needs exercise instruction I think they would be better off finding a trainer in a gym that is qualified to help them learn exercise form.
Robert DiMaggio said:true, but many trainers will not give much diet and nutrition advice because of the risk of a law suit if they are not a registered dietician.
i don't have a PT. i have a nutrition/training coach.Stu said:So how does your PT differ from this?

learning is a part of the process. sure, i could devise my own training and diet. i think it's easier to put together a training program than to fine tune nutrition as you go which my coach specializes in. my thoughts are this, i needed a coach for two things: #1 - if i could have achieved my personal goals by myself, i would have already and i can admit where i need assistance. #2 - he'll be doing all my pre-comp stuff. at this point in the game he knows what my body responds to and what it doesn't and is better equiped to get me where i need to be/fine tune pre-competition.Yanick said:why not just learn and ask questions and do it for yourself?![]()
it's a shame how many people use borderline horrible form in the gym on most exercises.Dale Mabry said:I imagine that well over 75% of the people who read this site don't bench properly, even though the info is there. And that is for an exercise as common as the bench press.
gonzo719 said:I am fairly experienced as far as weightlifting goes and I did create my first cuttting diet right here and people were very helpful. In 20 weeks of cutting i lost 23lbs and got down to 11-12% BF. THen i stopped working out due to circumstances in my life. I really want that six pack. I am not sold on swolecat or iron addict - but they seam really reputable. Especially iron addict because he writes alot of articles and talks to you on the phone. I know the diet i put together worked but my diet became to routine and so did the workouts. And sometimes on these forums everybody has their own opinions and somethimes you dont know who is right. be it volume vs. HIT - LISS Vs. HIIT. when to do cardio - and how many times a week. my goal right now is to get down to 8%BF and retain as much muscle as possible. then gain about 15lbs of muscle. So i have been researching the online trainers and i have to admit i am intrigued but the money is stopping me. If anybody can help on my cutting conquest it will much appreciated.
