only 120kg on lever shrugs machine stack, any solutions?

I have this machine at my gym

I love it, can feel my traps really great, doing slow motions in 6-8 rep range.

But it appears that 120kg (whole stack) is no longer a challenge to me. Do you have any ideas how can I add weight or make these shrugs more challening?

I know i can use barbell, but its kinda awkward for me and dont feel traps good. I like dumbbells, but again my gym have only dumbbells up to 100lbs ...
 
Maxed the machine out? Just do them one handed. And no idea how these are better than a bb. Perhaps while using the BB, alter your grip, play around with supinated and pronated grips, maybe lean fwd a bit, experiment, etc.
 
find a better gym :) iv finally joined a proper gym after about nearly 3 years i was stacking a couple of the machines in my "fitness type" gym and thinking i was the man they fool ya thinking ur lifting a lot u go to a proper gym and the full stack becomes quarter stack lol

hammer strenght seated and standing shrug machine at my new gym is sick i get a way better contraction in my traps using this compared with a straight bar...

yeah, there are some decent gyms here, but I dont think I can find a gym with hammer shrug machine in my city (750 000 residents)

Shrugs are almost absolutely uneccesary if you do heavy deads and back movements


This is completely untrue. I can barbell shrug 500lbs for 15-20 reps with good form. I could only do about 315 for 15-20 reps when I started. My traps exploded once I started hitting them directly. Also, bodybuilders wouldn't do shugs if they didn't serve a function.

Indirectly hitting your traps with deads and other compound back exercises is good. Hitting them directly is even better.


To the OP: Stop using a machine to shrug and pick up a barbell.

You don't know the guy you are responding to. You don't know his genetics or anything about the rest of his program, but you said they are unnecessary without asking any other information. Technically, every exercise is unnecessary since there are multiple ways to achieve the same goals. That doesn't mean that doing them is a bad idea. It is completely dependent on other factors.

I am a firm believer on compound exercises, but shrugs are one those exercises that produce better results when they are in my program. For me, they are unnecessary, but I would be less than optimal without them.

Please ban me! Please cuz this board has gone to complete shit... Are you guys kidding me?? Shrugs a little two inch movement necessary to grow traps?? Have u ever looked at strong men or power lifters and seen how massive their traps are??? Problem is know does core movements anymore... Rather shrug 500 lbs then deadlift 500...

I said post proof of allll these BB's who stated that they avoid iso trap work. Please post your list of these people and show the videos/articles where they state "I do not train my Traps with Iso work."

You complain, cry, and moan over someone disagreeing with you, and now you are too busy to even put in the effort to help others by posting some information to add validity to your claim. If you are going spread bad info, at least have the decency to make up some bullshit evidence.
