Um. i think you are out of your damn mind to think this. If we all of a sudden did not have oil tomorrow it would be much more than an inconvenience. we can not supply the needed electricity without it. so your computer is done. banking stops. you don't have access to money. basic food stuffs will no longer be available to the populace. i hope you have food storage and candles.
Very few US power plants run on oil, Hawaii would be it hard since 70% of our power plants are run on diesel but we have Biomass facilities, an overflow of garbage to burn and tons of sunshine so we could make a come back quick. They have facilities that can convert garbage to a burnable oil, and they have one that is converting oil from turkey/chicken scraps from a Tyson plant. Every city can divert power to their most necessary areas. Oil isn't going to just suddenly vanish even if all the rest of the world stops selling it to us....we'll have plenty of time to make changes while living off of our reserves and Anwar.....I think we should do it anyway all the money we'd save from importing oil could pay for a complete reconstruction of our energy structure.....Um. i think you are out of your damn mind to think this. Would humans die out? No. Our survival as a species is not dependent on oil. Our lifestyle is.
Well excuse me for thinking realistically instead of your sudden all oil is vaporized by alien nanobots scenario......that wasn't the scenario. the scenario had us with no oil tomorrow. no gas except whats in our cars currently. you think we could build the infrastructure for these other facilities without oil today? i think you are a little off in your optimism, but thats fine
