Question about Breakfast

I get up every morning at 6am, have my breakfast then I'm off to the gym around 7, and I start my workout around 7:30.

Here's the question:

Should I be having my breakfast before I workout? I lift weights and do some cardio just for warmup. I heard somewhere that it's better to just hit the gym first thing, THEN have breakfast later on. I know I could just have a small pre-workout snack, but it just doesn't make sense to me to go to the gym on an empty stomach.

What's the best thing?

I would eat a light breakfast before working out in the morning.
 
Some people, when trying to lose bodyfat, do cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, however, you should never lift weights on an empty stomach....make sure you eat your breaky :)
 
i have to agree with w8 on this. I coudn't imagine hitting the wieghts on an empty stomach but at the same time I wouldn't eat a huge breakfast and then lift. eat a small meal, train and then eat again.
 
Yeah exactly!

For cardio yeah I understand not having a breakfast before, but definitely not for weights. It just doesn't make sense to lift on an empty stomach. I always eat a small breakfast, train and then having something later on after my workout.
 
I never do

I wait 3 hours from eating before I lift or I do it first thing in the morning.

same with cardio.

then I wait 1 hour after to maximize fat loss, and then before I eat, I take a dose of thermos (love ECA).:thumb:
 
go back to sleep:) hehe joking.. i don't htink i can ever wake up that early to workout.. i am impressed
 
Eat at LEAST 2 meals before a lifting session imo...
 
hmmmmmmmmm!!

What works best for me if i train early in the AM is:


For cardio train on an empty stomach

For weight training eat like a protein bar with a glass of water and wait like 20 to 30 min before training...So if you go in at 7:30 eat at 7 and watch some cable tv or get psyched for what you are about to do....

I USE TO LIFT IN THE MORNING BUT RUN OUT OF TIME. wISH I STILL HAD THE CHANCE. USUALLY DONT HAVE TIME FOR BREAKFAST EITHER.
