Hey everyone :) so im getting ready for a show in june and i decided to do the keto. Its been a week since i started. At first i gained 5lbs. Then I lost it again. So im basically back to square one regarding weight. I am back to 135lbs female 5'1". I train with weights 6 days a week and do cardio 5 days a week. Im taking 10mg var everyday, 1 diablo 5 thermogenic, glutamine, multivitamin, and scivation xtend. I dont want to mess with insulin or whatever. I just need advice or suggestions on how i can lose fat a little faster. Maybe if i stick to ground beef and eggs all day everyday for 2 weeks?? Theres soo much info on keto but Im hoping you all can help me on this. Im cutting from my very first bulk and i need to admit it wasnt a clean well thoight out one either.. Lesson learned. Okidokie.. Thanks everyone ;)

sometimes MCT oil can help put you in ketosis more quickly.

More fats will put you into ketosis quicker.

YOu're like WAAAY short in your contest prep schedule. You're giving yourself maybe 8 weeks??

I'm going w/ keto at maybe 800-1000 cals /day and 2-3 hrs of cardio if you want to accomplish anything in 8 weeks. I'm not recommending this but I don't think I'm being particularly unreasonable either if this is the amount of time you're giving yourself. Unless you're already jacked and holding 120 lb of lean muscle mass, I'm guessing you need to go on stage at around 110 at your height? If I'm correct you have to give yourself time for your body to start adjusting to the new diet approach, get your metabolic burnrate established, drop the fat and then let your skin catch up to tighten up in the mid section?

I hope I'm not coming across as not supportive, but it just sounds like you're really far behind and I hate to see people trying to meet a date they aren't ready for. It can be very frustrating and then not turn out well for the effort. Typical contest prep, esp after coming off a bulk is a good 16 weeks.

Oh no definitely not :) i honestly do want to do junes show but if i dont lean out in time i can at least be at my min. Weight for the army. But the fasting thing. How does that work? Hrmm.. So basically if i keep my caloric intake at 1000 calories thats just boiled eggs all day or?? Lol. Pretty drastic but im just curious to know. I rushed myself the first show and ended up losing muscle and kept the fat. I want to look HOT! Thank you all for the suggestions and advice.

I don't think you're prepared to diet into a show in 8 weeks or less if you're still figuring out the diet. I was being a bit sarcastic on the 1000 cals - I don't recommend an extremely aggressive diet - I did this on 3 week cycles of 800 cals on a keto diet doing 2-3 hrs of cardio / day for 2 shows 2 yrs ago. I lost a lot of muscle mass and was exhausted. I looked better on more cals & less cardio last year, and still managed to come in lighter.

If you want to know more about fasting: Intermittent fasting diet for fat loss, muscle gain and health
- I have never used it for contest prep so I can't comment on it for that. I think its quite a change if you're used to eating several small meals over the course of the day, and you will need more time than 8 weeks to adapt to the diet and produce results.

I feel like saying for your purposes, forget the show in June and just get on a good and tight carb rotation w/ consistent diet & cardio. Think more in the line of 16 weeks to get to stage quality. Its not extreme, it is easy to do and would support consistent bodyfat dropping w/o losing too much muscle, if done at a slow pace to allow your body to accommodate the changes, and make small adjustments as you go to keep your body responding.
